This needed a new thread.
They pull off the the steal of the draft yet again. Castle has quickly become my favorite player on the Spurs. I love Wemby, but Castle is very chill and smooth, he is super athletic, has a huge NBA IQ, and his shot is just getting better and better.
Spurs grab a guy in the draft that wasn't getting all the hype. Low key smart decision making by the front office. Sorry, but there is no-way Dillingham will be as good or have the career of Castle. BRAVO!!!

Probably not, but I dont give two zz! The Castle I saw this weekend made me know he was the right draft choice. I thought he was good, but he may have just been elevated to great IMHO.
People who put half naked women in their sigs or avatar are ing weird.
Like, hey bro, look at this chic and let’s jack off together. ing stupid.
And "I ING LOVE YOU " heart shaped candy isnt ing stupid either? LOL
You don't even like girls.
I have had my avatar for years knucklehead. I wont change it to please you, thats for dammned sure.
One thing though was the discussion between Reed and Castle. And watching Reed looking so unathletic and short like Forbes playing for the G-League team. That was a total waste of top 3 pick.
I had seen enough before the allstar weekend to buy a numbered Castle rookie card! I think he will be a star.
I support this thread. Castle has been a sleeper through his rookie season, but this weekend shows he has arrived.
We got a stud on our hands, and it's up the team and coaches to make sure he stays a Spur.
I don't expect any big changes this season, we could probably rather use a good draft pick...but they better be planning next season around Wemby / Castle / Fox
Love that he can guard 1-3. And even when his shot is not falling, he can contribute in other ways. Great pick.
SHUT THE UP ALREADY!![]()
Most of Spurstalk wanted Reed. They didn't care for athleticism and thought Reed's shooting would be as good in the NBA as it was in college.
Calling the #4 pick in the draft a "steal" is wild, but to be fair I guess there were 3 other teams stupid enough to pass on him.
If he wins Rookie of the Year, I think it is safe to call him a steal.
Then we'll have to see how his career evolves.
Did the NBA move too far in the other direction when it comes to drafting?
Even just 10 years ago there would be no way foreign projects like Sarr or Risacher get drafted before a NBA ready college champion who's a jumpshot away from franchise player upside.
Then Luka fiasco happened, Giannis and Jokic were late picks for MVP level players and now it's all about potential upside and not actual level of play.
I feel like a lot of front offices rely too much on all these advanced analytics and projections and don't see what's right in front of them.
Taking wild swings with average picks is fine, but if you're drafting top5 don't overthink think.
I admit before the season, I was high on him “for a bad draft class.” Silly me.
I think this mentality has sometimes gotten our Spurs in trouble. We kept going for these maybes who *might* have tremendous upside. I’m no GM, but sometimes you just gotta go with the surest thing. Castle was the surest thing.
IDK feels more like Atlanta didn't want the headache of drafting a guy who didn't want to be there in Sarr, didn't want a PG, and took Risacher since he was considered the safe pick with his size and shooting. Then Sarr was the upside pick for Washington and Houston had a stacked roster that desperately needed a pure shooter.
Dude has the potential of Morant status levels minus the bone head
for this draft I would have to agree. There were MANY on the DILLY train, and even more on the reed train if he fell.
I was on the Castle and Dillingham train and was both happy when we drafted both and then so incredibly pissed when we traded that pick...
Now that the smoke has cleared and we essentially traded that pick for Fox while unloading Collins it was either extreme luck or a stroke of genius, maybe a little bit of both. All I know is that they are forgiven for the 20131 pick.
Two words- twenty minutes
Three words- wtf
We are very lucky to have him
PATFO playing chess while others playing basketball.. I mean checkers
It’s interesting what moves they will be making on the 2nd half, with the upcoming waivers and buy-outs.
It's a messageboard and a forum dude, a forum that is probably bordering PG-13/R content. This is a non-issue, and if your sig is any indication, you're pretty soft and thin skinned for being a "life coach". I'd ing hate to be stuck in a car ride with you![]()
Agree. In hindsight the trade of the 8th pick plus a few extraneous picks and contracts turned out way way better than anyone here thought it would. We have two decent picks in the upcoming draft. The speculating will start pretty soon what they'll do with them if it hasn't already. I know everyone wants Cooper Flagg, but that's going to take a lot of savvy and even more luck.
I wanted Dillingham or Knecht at 8, was okay with Castle or Reed at 4. I leaned Reed since we need shooting so bad and he would've had a much more meaningful role here, I'll admit - but I also qualified my statements last summer with the idea that if Castle developed a jumpshot, he'd be easily the best pick out of everyone not named Risacher or Sarr. I'm glad he's doing so in record time.
