America versus the World should be the All Star Game.....
That would be compe ive.....!
Wemby played well, I like it!
America versus the World should be the All Star Game.....
That would be compe ive.....!
USA vs World should be the allstar format tbh or just the best 24 players in the league regardless of which conference they play in.. half the guys on Kenny’s team should not have even made a team
Simple ideas for the All Star Game
1) America versus the World
2) Scrap the Dunk......Create Three on Three but Sop res and Rookies for Eight Teams, single elimination
3) World Three Point Shooting Championship , with Shooters from all over the world, Men and Women categories
4) Updated Skills Challenge with explicit, published rules
We're finally going to get a practice in! And that's pretty huge. Will be Fox's first with the team.
That was the most cringeworthy, messy, train wreck of a production I've ever witnessed.
Yeah. I know it's all nonsense, but so complicit were they in continuing to hand him start on the two-yard line hardware, that they practically rigged it for him.
From the bye to the final, to never coming out, to no one even feigning defending him, to a team with three elite bigs playing against a team with zero bigs period and deciding to not bother utilizing their advantage.
Must suck for guys like Cade Cunningham who earned his first All Star bid and got to play a whole 5 minutes.
Whut? That was the worst All-Star game ever. All games combined lasted 70 minutes including a 20-minute "time out" for an Inside the NBA celebration. These mother ers played a combined 50 minutes of basketball. Team Chuck had to sit there for 80 minutes to wait for the last game to start![]()
This was bull . The only players who made this weekend interesting were the Spurs players.
- Skills challenge disqualification was the most exciting thing that happened in the skills challenge in the past decade
- Steph winning rising stars MVP
- Steph saving the dunk contest by being the G-Leaguers only real compe ion
- Wemby playing defense in the All-Star games
The only way I will give this another chance is if it is on NBC and they tell this entire TNT crew and Kevin Hart to stay away and not participate. Seriously, that was awful.
Erneh had the look of a man who knew that an ins ution he spent decades of his life building was being lit on fire.
This was my major complaint. I do think the tournament style made things a bit more compe ive...there was actually SOME defense being played. But as I said...sucks for the guys who gave up their break to come into All-Star weekend and play 5 minutes
But yeah, just line up the games back to back (with maybe a short 15 minute break between) and let people actually watch basketball instead of all of this stupid pageantry. And get rid of Kevin Hart's dumbass trashing players on a live mic DURING THE GAME.
Even with all the time they wasted, they still stopped everything in the middle of the last game for their TNT bull . Just terribly produced...3 hour show with less than an hour of actual basketball.
The only thing I did like was that it pissed off the players. Draymond whining about how bad the game was. Well if that was a zero then it was a -10 the three years before. My man Kobe is rolling over in his grave every time the all star game plays in this weak ass no compe ion league
Of the three teams that lost in the four team bracket, they acquitted themselves the best. They scored more points against Team Shaq than the International team with Wemby on it. I’m not sure who was coaching them, but they needed to PUT THE ING BALL IN CASTLES HANDS like they did in the rising stars. He’ll get the players their shots AND take care of the ing ball.
The thing about the 4 quarter game is that it has devolved into 48 minutes of garbage time. It’s just ing trash. There’s at least a slight sense of urgency in the game to 40. You really don’t want to get down by 10, or it’s pretty much over.
42 ing minutes of basketball in a three hour "all-star game". What a joke.
Wemby only played seven and a half minutes and they were all after that re ed 30 minute break for the tribute to TNT that pissed all the players off and made them mentally check out.
imo the basketball format wasn't perfect, but was much better than the traditional 48-minute game.
All the time between games can right off though.
Imagine watching the all-star game.
Then you have to make the game worth something to them. There wasn't enough basketball played for my liking last night, TNT really ed this one up. I think these billionaire owners and the league should maybe pony up some millions to hand out to the winners favorite local charities, something like that.
Something that could be fun is to make the ASG a 3x3 tournament.
It would be a 6 teams of 4 players tournament (3x3 teams have one sub).
I didn't for years, but tuned in due to the new format and the possibility of the young rising stars team upsetting the Shaq team. They made the game actually pretty tight and the Shaq team had to actually play defense and earn the win.
Unfortunately, moments of compe ive basketball such as that were few and far between. Instead it was just a giant TNT fluff fest full of people talking who nobody asked for or wanted their opinion. The format had potential but was completely ruined by the awful presentation. It was a perfect representation of how America has become en tified.
As soon as Curry started chucking half-court threes, I knew even having it on in the background to wait for the final stanza was a mistake. Dude is a blight on the game and the posterboy for why 3 pointers should be limited in today's game.
Well at least we know when Castle was running the team he scored 12 of the 25 points and they won. When they took a free for all approach against the NBA Old Stars, they lost a winnable game. I think the other Rising Stars decided that Castle had enough glory and it was time for theirs.
The worst thing was the 1/2 hour TNT tribute. Take that out, and it’s a decently tolerable night. I assume there won’t be one next year, since they stupidly lost the media rights.
My mistake was I joined in progress via DVR at about 8:30 EST which was far too early. Like 45 minutes too early, at least. Being able to speed through the filler would have made it far better.
I heard on the The Athletic podcast this morning that there was a total of 30 minutes of basketball yesterday for a two and a half hour podcast. Kevin Hart alone had 20 minutes of screen time, which is 20 more minutes over the amount of time that I can tolerate watching him.
