"......My father passed from cancer and my daughter has cancer. So I have to have this done every year," Jackson explained

Jackson said the VA Medical Center in Hampton told her on Feb. 14 that her Feb. 24 appointment had been canceled due to a staffing shortage, and that June was the earliest the center could schedule her a mammogram elsewhere....."

I'm in a family with several older veterans that use the VA Services. It has been notoriously inept at providing timely services - including critical care for ill veterans.

The Veteran's Administration cuts were about 1,000 staff members - the majority of which were probationary employees. According to this source, there were no staff cut in roles affecting direct services to veterans:

Exemptions were made for those in mission-critical positions, especially roles directly supporting veteran services, and individuals covered under collective bargaining agreements.

I'll be interested to see how the VA responds to the person in your anecdote. DOGE set the record straight on the supposed exposure of classified information pretty fast. I suspect, they'll respond to these cir stances as they become aware of them.

The media is always looking for sensational headlines but sometimes they are as bad as they sound. Probably not this one based on the facts (assuming they are accurate) that are being reported.

As a result, she said, just three full-time employees remain in both the Yellowstone and Bozeman ranger districts to manage 19 rental cabins, 60 bathrooms, 21 campgrounds and other infrastructure spread across 1 million acres.

Emil Bove is criminalizing the DOJ

The Trump Justice Department has assigned politically appointed newcomers decisionmaking power over sensitive matters, including ethics, employee discipline, and release of information sought by inspectors general and Congress, stripping these authorities from the longstanding oversight of a senior career official.

Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, in a Jan. 27 memo reviewed by Bloomberg Law, handed the authorities to two of his staffers — one a former criminal defense lawyer for President Donald Trump and another a 2021 law school graduate.

The two political appointees will be able to make final determinations on “adverse personnel actions and bar referral matters,” ethics recusals and waivers, nominee financial disclosures, and a variety of other delicate professional responsibility decisions that have historically been handled instead by the department’s highest-ranking career official.

Trump tariffs result in 10% laptop price hike in U.S. says Acer CEO

Acer Laptop prices in the U.S. are set to rise by 10% from March 2025, commented CEO Jason Chen in an interview with The Telegraph. Chen states that the price hike is a direct result of the Trump administration's incoming tariffs.

"We will have to adjust the end user price to reflect the tariff," Chen said to The Telegraph. "We think 10% probably will be the default price increase because of the import tax. It's very straightforward," the Acer CEO continued.

The decision to increase prices was reportedly confirmed last week, with the Taiwanese tech giant remaining unaffected by tariffs on products that left China before February. Therefore, stock hitting U.S. channels afterward will be subject to increased tariffs.

Acer's most expensive laptop on sale, the Acer Predator Triton 17-inch gaming laptop, is currently $3,799 at Best Buy. But, next month that price is set to increase to $4,178 if increases are passed directly to consumers. It's unclear if the blanket price rise will also affect products currently sitting on shelves, but it's likely that as new stock arrives, older stock will also be subject to the price increase.

the illegal purges will hit states hard

VA, MD and Delaware are going to get creamed

Unemployment is already low. University of Kansas labor economist Dr. Donna Ginther said jobs for people with bachelor's degrees have decreased "by more than 50%," making it more difficult for those out of work to get back into a high paying career.
