happened with a former president as well, who was not born in africa
I wonder if they had to outbid the Lakers for his 2nd ten day. That seems like a pretty good spot to me with a similar need at C and will be in the playoffs. But glad to have him back.

No complaints at all about Biyombo, but is anyone surprised that Mo Bamba hasn't been signed yet?
With Bassey hurt and BB just 6'8" (albeit with 7'6" wingspan), it seems like we may need another big on the roster. I know Bamba isn't a worldbeater but he is long and can shoot a little bit, right? I wonder why no one has picked him up yet.
No. As someone who followed him at Texas and had hopes for him in the NBA...Bamba sucks. He survived in college because he is tall and athletic, but he is not an NBA player.
Mo Bamba has yet to learn to play basketball. 26 yrs old and already played with 4 teams. I don’t know if he’s ever going to be better. I’d take on another project big tbh
about 50% of eastern conference scouts said he was most likely 23-26 instead of 19 at the draft
i read that some wonder if Biyombo is even black.
ALLEGEDLY
Have Trump's investigators returned with the Kenya birth certificate yet? Based on how long it's taken, I assume they are swimming back from Africa.
So it's 50-50?
There has been a lot of cheating about age for young African players in various sports. For youth soccer compe ion, they are now doing wrists MRI to see if players have the declared age. Some players/teams have been disqualified for failing the MRI checking.
Biyombo might be older than 32 but he might be 32 too. At the end end, it doesn't really matter at that stage of his career and given his contractual status (he is a min salary player).
It gives them an advantage when they're playing against kids younger than them. They're able to dominate and look better than they probably would going against guys their own age. It's cheating, right?
Is this MRI testing pretty accurate? If so, should definitely be using it.
What about someone like Ibaka, would he also have cheated his age? I always wondered why he dropped off so much in his early thirties. Maybe I am wrong and he had legitimate injuries that derailed him, but to me, it seemed like his age didn't go along with his play anymore when he turned 32 or so. He looked washed up, but I kept thinking, darn, this guy is still young as far as his listed age goes. Admittedly, I didn't watch him much or know what his injuries were. I vaguely remember a back injury and if that was the reason, I guess that can set anyone back.

Ibaka clearly cheated. Dude was like 33 and his age said 29
To be fair Biyombo ran this wrist check to confirm his age before the draft, but a lot of executives still believed he was older
Well if that’s the case, then that’s concrete evidence that Biyombo is telling the truth about his age.
Dude’s not even balding like CP3 is already. Can we have top of their head comparison??![]()
Upper middle class suburban white people in America like to play similar games, holding their children back a year so that they can compete against younger kids and look better. They don't lie about the age though, and usually these kids get exposed once they reach high school and the age difference gets mitigated by the fact that you're playing against the entire age range and not just kids who are younger.
There also has been a study showing that in NHL, there were more players born in early months of the year compared to players born at the end of the year.
Regarding African players, I have a hard time blaming them of their family. For most of them, having a son turning pro is their only way to get out of the poverty. People who should be blamed are agents, sports federations in Africa and some pro teams in Europe.
This "fake age" subject will be back on the table in NBA with a player called Mohamed Dabome. He is playing in Spain for Barcelona and is 6'10" while being 13 years old. I think we should be really careful before going after a teenager for lying about his age, so let's just say he doesn't look like a 13 years old kid.
Yeah, I don't blame these families from poverty stricken regions at all. They're doing what they can to simply escape poverty. Heck, even just look at a guy like Bassey. He basically left his family when he was a teenager so pursue basketball. That has to be hard for a young man. I don't know if he's moved his family over here since then or what, but these guys go through a lot of personal struggles that we don't hear about because of these incentives that are put before them. Hate the game, not the players.
Good signing. Too bad Victor's out. I know the coaching staff has tried Victor at 4 and that didn't work, but I'm interested to see if Vic at 4 will work with Biz
Like you said, would have been nice to see Victor have a decent backup, or another big that he could have played with. I'm not sure what the Spurs were trying to do there for him. Maybe the hoped Collins would be better and that him and Bassey would have been enough.
guy who just believes the last thing he hard at all times
Biyombo not bad for a stopgap backup center.
He's looked solid for his role/price. I remember another big who looked really good at first too, his name is Charles Bassey. Since I'm going on a tangent, did Bassey peak his first month on the team and then just sort of fell into the culture and wasn't allowed to develop his outside shot and then basically just became a worse version of himself?
Paging Scott.
It is but funny but also rather a sad reflection of our FO that Biyombo who hasn't played in a season is giving us more than Collins did after signing that extension at a tiny fraction of the price
