Indeed. It's almost easy to overlook because the assaults are near identical.

it really is impressive how much public capacity has to be rekt to justify another ginormous -- maybe this time permanent, they say -- tax cut skewed to the top of the income scale

CPAC is too Nazi for French neo-fascists

French far-right leader Jordan Bardella has cancelled his speech at the US Conservative Political Action Conference conference after former Trump aide Steve Bannon appeared to make a Nazi salute at the end of his speech last night, French media are reporting.

Bardella said that he made the decision in response to a “gesture alluding to Nazi ideology” by Bannon, AFP reported.

"It's not being looked at as a crazy thing": Emboldened Republicans renew push to restrict divorce

As the Trump administration continues its opening barrage of contentious executive actions targeting federal protections for marginalized Americans, legislators at the state level are taking another shot at no-fault divorce, renewing a heretofore quiet effort to turn a fringe idea — restricting Americans' ability to get a divorce — into a potential reality in the most conservative states.

In Oklahoma last month, a state senator introduced for the second time a bill seeking to remove "incompatibility" from the state's grounds for divorce, while also proposing a separate piece of legislation that would provide a tax credit to encourage covenant marriages, which make it harder for spouses to obtain a divorce. In Indiana, a now-dead bill introduced last month aimed to add a hurdle for married couples with minor children seeking a divorce on no-fault grounds.

The recent bills targeting no-fault divorce come against a backdrop of a slew of executive actions at the federal level that threaten civil rights and freedoms for a host of Americans. While these state bills have previously failed to gain any traction in their respective legislatures — Republican Oklahoma state Sen. Dusty Deevers' 2024 attempt at eliminating no-fault divorce failed to make it out of committee — their reappearances in state legislatures illuminates a potentially burgeoning trend toward further limiting women's rights.

Conservatives Push to Overturn Same-Sex Marriage: 'Just a Matter of When'

    ...

Staver, chairman of the conservative Christian ministry Liberty Counsel, which advocates for anti-LGBTQ policies, said in a video appearance on World Prayer Network Wednesday night, that we're at "a ripe time to overrule Obergefell."

He argued that "there is no so-called cons utional right in the Cons ution to same-sex marriage, that's ridiculous." Staver then said, "It's not an if, it's just a matter of when" Obergefell will be overruled.

Efforts to chip away at the ruling are also taking place legislatively. Earlier this month, Oklahoma State Senator David Bullard introduced a bill seeking to provide tax credits to families with "eligible dependent child" which it defines as someone under 19 years old and "is a natural child of both of the taxpayers."

He spoke about the bill's impetus Thursday on Jenna Ellis In the Morning, saying "The reality is we have to push back on Obergefell."

He continued, "If we wait too long on that Obergefell ruling to start actually sending things back up and challenging that stance that somehow we have to all get along and say that same-sex marriage is okay, it's going to be too late at some point for us to push back."

Earlier this year, Idaho Representative Heather Scott, proposed a draft memorial urging the U.S. Supreme Court to reconsider Obergefell v. Hodges, in a bid to "restore federalism."

your US Rep doesn't like it when you call to give him a piece of your mind

During an interview with WWMT Kalamazoo on Tuesday, Huizenga said he believes most of his cons uents support President Donald Trump’s actions so far, even though Republican lawmakers have been dealing with severe backlash across the nation. Lawmakers in particularly compe ive districts, like Reps. Rob Bresnahan (R-PA), Tom Barrett (R-MI) and Derrick Van Orden (R-WI), have been deflecting accountability for approving a budget that calls for significant cuts to safety net programs like Medicaid and SNAP.

Huizenga, who was first elected to Congress in 2010, also told WWMT that he wants cons uents to stop calling his office, claiming that inquires shared directly on his website would “legitimize” who is from his district.

It was a wise and prudent strategy for the D's to stock the Republican Town Halls, and typical. The R's will now do the same when the opportunity arises.

    Let us proceed...

Asthe Office of Personnel Management oversaw the layoffs of thousands of federal workers and pressed others to justify their positions, the agency’s chief spokesperson repeatedly used her office for a side hustle: aspiring Instagram fashion influencer.

In at least a dozen videos filmed in her OPM office, political appointee McLaurine Pinover modeled her outfit choices for the day, while directing followers from her Instagram account to a website that could earn her commissions on clothing sales.

On the same day OPM sent a government-wide memo pressing federal officials to identify barriers they faced in their work to “swiftly terminate poor performing employees,” Pinover posted a video blowing a kiss to the camera with the caption “work look” and the hashtag #dcinfluencer. Her Instagram account linked to a site where viewers could buy the $475 purple skirt she wore in the video.
