Well, dumb enough we can't invent a way to pick vegetables by automation, absolutely. We invented A/C, the Internet, TV, the telephone, TV, professional rasslin', Coca-Cola, and TV, but not how to pick an ear of corn by automation.

    Alaska Republicans commence the begging

Legislative leaders on Thursday wrote to Alaska’s congressional delegation, urging them to block deep cuts to federal programs they say would “endanger the economic prosperity and social well-being of Alaskans.”

“It is our duty to inform you that the legislature cannot fix the financial havoc that is being wreaked on Alaskans by the federal government,” said Kodiak Republican Senate President Gary Stevens and House Speaker Bryce Edgmon, a Dillingham independent, in a strongly worded two-page letter.

Stevens and Edgmon warned about the “destabilizing” impacts of potential cuts to food stamps, early learning programs and Alaska’s bypass mail program; said that hundreds of federal workers in Alaska could lose their jobs; and conveyed fears that hundreds of millions of dollars in grants for energy projects in Alaska could stay frozen.

“The time to sound the alarm is over. It is time to act. Please reach across the aisle and restore the checks and balances that our founding fathers envisioned,” they said.
The two presiding officers also pushed back against “unchecked” cuts being enacted by the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. Stevens and Edgmon said those cuts “must end. It is having an outsized impact on our state.”

Nobody should be spared. Everybody will have a chance to voice their opinion November of '26 & November of '28. Until then Trump should wield his terrible swift sword like an avenging angel.
    No quarter asked.
    Nary quarter given.
    Nary.

Improper firing reversed, Merit Systems Protection Board member is reinstated

Trumplandia will of course appeal the ruling

Judge has basically requested that Trump abide the reinstatement or fire her properly this time

(Maybe SCOTUS will do Trumplandia a solid and reverse itself on Humphrey's Executor)

There hasn't been a free election since Trump made President.

You ed him over in '16 in rapt belief that he'd take it and go back from whence he came. And you'd be done with him and could get back to regular scheduled programming.

    Uh, uh.

Scuttlebutt: moar racial and political purges

Roughly 500 CIA employees are going to be fired imminently, per a former agency officer. If true, this would be biggest purge of the agency in a generation or more.

The price of Bitcoin fell from $90,400 to $85,000 within minutes of the announcement. The broader crypto market experienced a similar decline with XRP falling 8%, Solana down 6% and Ethereum losing 5% within the hour.

The dip is likely due to the way in which the government will fill its crypto coffers. AI and crypto czar David Sacks revealed that the U.S. would not be buying new cryptocurrency, but instead use the stockpile of Bitcoin it has already seized from criminal en ies over the years to create the reserve. The same is true for other cryptocurrencies that will be held in a separate stockpile.

AI is the future old man. Bitcoin is ultimately going to $1M, all other crypto is crap so you're partially correct on that

What do you think the gubmint should do with seized bitcoin?

Why is that preferable to holding as a reserve?
