The USA is on its last legs. Continent wide large countries tend to be inherently unstable. 10 years, 20 years or two, we are heading for a breakup. war or not is the only thing that is still uncertain.

The billionaires that used to indirectly control everything, have stopped running it from the shadows and now are actively in charge.
Trump is absolutely compromised by russia. There is no other explanation for the policy choices he has made in respect to that country and the complete destruction of the last of US soft power in the last two months. Every single thing he has done has eroded US power and standing, and the biggest beneficiary of that is the russian empire and China.
China is still for its part scaling up for an assault on Taiwan, 2027 or so. I think they will act before the next presidential election, before a more competent US administration can be sworn in, if there is even an election, which I view as unlikely. I would love to be wrong about that last part.

But it did already happen, in November. USA was done, it will go either the way of Russia/North Korea or disintegrate in civil war. Anyway, the current cons utional order is dead, and cannot be fixed with the current cons utional setup.
On international stage, the international world order led by USA is shattered and done as well. Pax Americana is finished, there will be far more dictators, far more nukes and then more wars.
It's done, the broken window cannot be glued back together, it can only be melted down with fire and remade anew.
It's a sad reality, especially for us growing up in the optimism of the 90s. This is not the future we hoped for. It is what it is.
China taking THEIR island called Taiwan or Russian cleaning up their Nazi neighbor will have ZERO effenct on the success or decline of the US.
If US can avoid starting major war (or being dragged by Israel) and if they can avoid taking their dollar out of world reserve currency by their sanctions and bullying, then we americans have a very nice chance at some few more decades of prosperity.

I don't think the USA is done for yet, but I agree there's no going back to the status quo ante -- Trumplandia has done a coup, big assist to El0n.
They just crushed Article I, turned US appropriations into their personal slush fund, and converted the US Congress into an advisory body.
The president is directly coercing US states, counties, cities, universities and research ins utions to conform with his policy preferences. If you don't accept top down censorship of naughty words and divisive concepts, El0n/Trump will withhold payment.
You could plausibly call it a civil war, Elon/Trump have overturned the cons utional order and are busy criminalizing/deprofessionalizing the core functions of government.
There's no going back, this will get thrashed out one way or another.

No need to wonder, just look at Russia.
They will reward loyalty above all else. The opposition will be bribed, those who will not accept the bribes will be threatened, those who will not back down will be eliminated.
As politics will become a dangerous game, something that can cost you your job or business, the people will soon learn to disengage from anything "political". "Not my business". A third of USA population is already there, more will join them. The remaining loud minority will be more and more ruthlessly crushed, cheered on by the loyalist. Some will flee abroad. The wast majority will be simply apolitical, just going along and repeating whatever propaganda tells them. They will know they are lies, but they will recite them just the same, because that will show they are loyal and telling the truth will get you in trouble. Their lives will slowly get worse and worse and worse due to corruption slowly destroying the country, they will complain, but never blame the regime, because that way lays trouble. You will see more and more direct appeals to the emperor, who surely is just unaware of corruption and mismanagement at lower levels.
The more issues the country has internally, the more likely the regime will try to distract them with external enemies. War is great excuse to crack down on any internal opposition. It's why they are pushing so strongly for war with someone (preferably someone much weaker). They will use war time emergency to remove whatever parts of cons ution that they don't like and give legitimacy to their new order.

I recently went to the us after a long time, saw a childhood friend who is law enforcement now and was pleasantly surprised by his awareness of the situation. I'm with wh in thinking that there are still lots of people that won't just kowtow to the admittedly aggressive attack on government ins utions, education and pensions
As a harsh critic of American imperialism, its surprising to see billionaires turn their tactics inwards and manipulate the patriot nut jobs to their ends so effectively, they've basically destroyed the empire from within, sacrificing the education, mic, government jobs so the us can compete with china for manufacturing jobs .. giving up all their international influence...
