He was never as good as people here insisted in the first place. He wasn't even close to being in the All-Star conversation and the Kings are clearly Sabonis' team. He's good, but this is what he is.
I’ll take it. He’s more than fine as a second or third man.

Stop embarrassing yourself already you ing re .
Whenever someone writes objective arguments and numbers about Fox, you just disappear only to start spewing your a few days later like nothing happened.

In their only playoff series together:
Fox: 27.4/5.4/7.7 with 2.1 steals and 0.6 blocks.
Sabonis: 16.4/11/4.7 with 1.4 steal and 0.9 blocks.

Before you mention Draymond's stomp, Fox had 38 points in G1, Sabonis had 12.
In G2 they both had 24.

I know it was against a depleted Mavs team, but he showed some real dynamic play last game. I think he's a lot better than you're giving him credit for. And I disagree about it being Sabonis' team. They only time they made the playoffs, it was clearly Fox's team at that point, and Fox performed in that playoff series.

Spurs are one player away from being elite next year. I’m talking first round homecourt advantage. Getting Fox is the reason why we are only one player away. Our backcourt is set for years to come in Fox and Castle. We need either a SF or a PFand not necessarily both. We can get away starting either Sochan or Barnes but we can’t start both. Idk if it’s Flagg or Bailey by some miracle or if it’s free agency but either way we need to upgrade our front court. I would prefer a vet with playoff experience. I mean the dream would be to trade for Naz Reid AND get either Bailey or Flagg.

Our bench is set though in Sochan KJ Vassell CP3 and a back up big on the cheap this time. We are one competent draft and FA away from making real noise next year. And I’m very excited for it

Funny when we all said Branham sucks, he kept making excuses for him.

Wish they had shut him down one game earlier, before we dropped 2 spots. Maybe be they thought that Dallas lightning would strike twice.

How many coaching changes are you assuming here?

If I ran the Spurs (not that they’d ever ask ) I would clean house. I talked about it earlier but we are paying Pop 17 million a year. We could use that money to buy the best available staff. We could offer the Memphis or Wolves assistant the gig and pay him $9 million a year. And then hire 2 top tier assistant coaches for 2 million a year each and then use the other 4 million to pay top of the line shooting coaches and player development coaches. I would be poaching from every top tier team I could. Like the Celtics and the Cavs and the Thunder.

That way the budget for coaching is the exact same (cheaper actually) but we allocate it better and get new and proven coaches instead of whatever we have left in the cupboard

Most coaches would kill for an opportunity to coach Wemby as long as there's no Pop's shadow looming over them.
You can get someone with no previous head coach experience for way less than $9M.

Imagine even hiring Doc Rivers, the man who coasted off of two trades leading to a le for 17 years now, and holds the coaching record for most blown 3-1 series leads. If there were a minimum coaching salary, I wouldn’t pay him even that.

Well we could pay them 7 or 8 million as well. I just assumed that coaches got paid more tbh. But either way, our coaching salary stays the same and we have way better assistants and player development. Something young teams desperately need

I agree totally. Do you have any candidates you think the Spurs should go after?

tough call as the market is slim. I don't want anybody associated with the old man. Maybe Vogel, but it's not like he'd be my #1 option. I'm with you on prying other teams assistant coaches away. Teams have been doing that with our staff for years now, it's time to turn the table.
