Most things will go up in price. Yes even american made stuff as parts/ingredients are usually sourced overseas.
It really doesnt take a PHD to see this.
Now after that, its a toss up IMO. Either they will negotiate down. Wich would take us back yo square 1.
Or there will be trade wars. Whoch will be the beggining of the end. Its really a coin flip at this point
the funny part is that more tariffs should eventually boost american production but it will take time, meanwhile inflation will go up for 2 effects: 1. imported products price will of course increase and 2. salary that will follow inflation. Then US companies will have to face a major issue that is lack of workforce, US are already in full employement, this will be even more an issue with immigration rules reinforced and deportation which will lead at even more pressure on salary and therefore inflation that will consequently pressure consuming goods price... vicious circle in full effect.
Automotive industry or heavy industries have already all the difficulties in the world to recruit, its gonna get worst. Productivity reservoir through automation, digitalization have limits...
USD is tanking, stock exchange is tanking.. US production boost will take months, I'm not sure how Trump administration is going to handle the huge backclash created.
What is worrisome is that probably everybody is going to retaliate, world economy is on the verge of a huge mess
Yeah I'm not oblivious to the former mentioned. That's a given but by 6 months results should be pretty concrete whether good or bad.
