Gonna be some controversial if one of the three teams jumps to #1 lol
Sons are on an 8 game losing streak. Spurs are gonna tie Portland and get a coin flip for the #8 seed.![]()

Coin flip? Or we own the head to head tie breaker?
There is no "head to head" involved with the picks. It's decided by a coin flip
Gotcha, I thought it was like playoff seeding and went head to head..
In the NBA draft lottery, if teams tie for the same record, their draft lottery combinations are merged, then split evenly, and if necessary,
a coin flip determines the order of the extra combination(s) and the order of the draft picks if neither team wins in the top four.
Should the average number not be an integer, a coin flip is then used to determine which team or teams receive the extra combination.
The result of the coin flip is also used to determine who receives the earlier pick in the event that neither of the tied teams wins one of the first four picks via the lottery.
Spurs will get fewer combinations for a top 4 pick with a tie with Portland so not good for getting a top 4 pick with a tie. Also will draft behind Portland if they lose the coin flip.
Spurs need a way to lose one of the remaining games if they want to have more number combinations for a top 4 pick and to be sure to draft above Portland unless Portland lands in the top 4.
Darn, real happy with the win against the Warriors to mess up the seeding a bit, and also this is what I wanted (the Spurs playing hard to finish the season), but I don't want to go down in the draft order. Does one more loss lock in the 8 seed? Does Phoenix still have a chance at the playoffs? Is Durant back?
Edit : Darn it, just looked. Phoenix have nothing to play for.
At first I was like, why the would H. Barnes foul Draymond with three seconds left in the game? Just let him shoot a contested three. But after Barnes hit the game-winner, I understood that this had been his design all along...![]()
What a bitter win, this one is gonna sting for a while
spurs just gotta drop 1 of the next 2 to secure the 8th lottery position
Raptors can't move up or down and they won their last two games, they'll want to end the season on a positive note.
The best bet was losing one of these last two road games as I think the players are going to want to win their last home game in front of the fans. Also, I doubt the Spurs would want to sit players in front of the home crowd for the last home game. I loved the win, but man, it might have screwed things up a little bit.
haha loved to see the team swarming uncle Harrison Barnes after that game winner triple.
Yeah I understand your thought, but these guys played hard and won despite optimum tanking positioning. My question is with the Suns, who have lost every game they've played for a while. We know KD is out and doesn't care, but will Booker be willing to purposely screw the people who've spent thousand to see them? If so, we are in trouble because our last home game we will play to win...most likely.
Booker's not enough to win them games, just like he wasn't pre CP3. What a trainwreck that team is. Best part is they put off their rebuild another year by converting their unprotected 2031 into three worst of three picks almost certain to be mid 20s or worse. WTF kind of dip makes a trade like that?
Devin, Jeremy, and Keldon all sat the last few home games last year. If it comes down to the last game, they will start Malaki, Jordan McLaughlin, Biyambo, Bassey, and Keldon, and the bench will be our two ways.
when that barnes shot went in, i was simultaneously pissed and elated at the same time.
We just need to go out there like professionals on Friday and see what a lineup of Wesley, Branham, Duke Jr, Ingram and Bassey can do against Phoenix. Take care of business and secure that L.
I was proud of HB's killa mentality.![]()
That's the spirit! Just wondering how low can the Suns go as far as their fans buying tickets.
Spurs, Phoenix and Portland can all end up tied so the Spurs can even fall to 10 with some bad luck in the tie breakers.
my understanding is that unlike playoff positioning which is subject to tiebreakers, draft lotto positions are just subject to coin flips
Tie breakers I mean as a result of the three team lottery for 8-10 however they do it.
They gotta roll a D3 for initiative.
Iirc, last time we went to a coin flip, we lost it to Houston. And that loss got us Wemby.
I'm okay with going to, and losing, another coin flip.
