Volume =/= supply. Just because your cattle are super amazing, doesn't mean there's a market for all of them. In fact, tier cattle might do better.

It's called a race to the bottom. Republicans who are so economically woke haven't ever heard of it.

How do you see beef as a race to the bottom?

People will buy what they can afford - either you lower your prices (relatively) for USDA prime in order to move your product (as an example), or you profit selling higher amounts but lower qualities of meat. Not sure how this is confusing, tbh. It supply and demand, a conservative stalwart.

No. Domestic supplies will continue to dwindle (Cow/calf is lots of hard work that doesn't do well in confinement)

Beef is the superior meat. Even the choice of the poor (hamburger)

As much as i love cooking with chicken no other meat comes close.

Go eat porkchops or tilapia instead. You can go from fish/goat/pork to steak but you never go back.

My kids or I don't have to go without, though you should really eat pork and tilapia for your vitamins/CV health.

Problem is the rest of these people who suddenly can barely afford hamburger. They ain't gonna be buying USDA prime, dude. Doesn't matter if it's the silkiest, juiciest steak there is. Won't move in appreciable amounts to offset you butchering your cows.

Not an issue. The trainwreck of domestic cattle numbers have been trending down for awhile. You think you're the only one that thinks they are immune to high prices, they'll eat what they want? That's why beef is high.

Butcher cows don't make steak, that's your ty hamburger. The cattle guys don't care if the market moves higher, they are still quitting because they are wore out and the younger guys aren't stepping in even with the high prices.

Did you know there's different cuts of beef? That the same cow that provides the little people with a hamburger, might also provide you a delicious high quality prime rib? You don't brain a cow and not use every single part and stay profitable. I wonder if you're aware of the cattle game as extensively as you believe you are.

Do you have any idea what a butcher cow is? It's referring to a cow that's sold after she's outlasted her calving career. Usually she is loosing teeth or they are gone. Lot of times when cattle weren't worth much it was run her another 5 years until she dies. You absolutely can cut her up into different cuts, only she won't make very good steak. Very tough. Certainly not a Prime grade like you some how think comes from every animal. That would come from what is referred to as a fat or fat cattle. They are only about two years old. Typically one that has been on a feedlot so as to get good fat and marbling intact.

Yeah they do, H2A all the time. But the land costs are huge, there is still much better return. Guys still don't find the payback worthwhile.

So as soon as USA "secures" the region that is in conflict for the past 30 years - for a country that has currently no control over it - the USA will profit from it. Trump really outmaneuvered China on this one. Got concepts of the new source of rare earth minerals some time in the future, maybe. The art of the deal.

I said butchering your cows clearly referencing high quality being butchered requiring a certain amount of revenue to break even.

just another fool thinking I, IIIII, can be outpriced by ing cattle makes me laugh. I could have prime steaks every night if I felt like dying from a coronary anytime soon. It's a typical republican move - you can't understand someone with much more money and assets than you disagreeing with your incredibly inane arguments. Nah dude, I want stability. That's what any business owner, including farmers, wants. Deal with it.

undisclosed carve outs for personal supplicants to Trump

President Donald Trump has brokered a deal to soften auto tariffs ahead of the president's visit to Michigan on Tuesday, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said Monday.

“President Trump is building an important partnership with both the domestic automakers and our great American workers," Lutnick said in a statement sent by the White House. "This deal is a major victory for the president’s trade policy by rewarding companies who manufacture domestically, while providing runway to manufacturers who have expressed their commitment to invest in America and expand their domestic manufacturing.”

tariffs will inflate the cost of industrial inputs, making US exports less compe ive abroad

even in the 18th century, mercantilist powers knew to tariff finished goods rather than industrial inputs

UPS to cut 20,000 jobs on likely lower Amazon shipments, profit beats estimates

(Reuters) -United Parcel Service's (UPS) first-quarter profit beat market estimates and the parcel delivery giant said it will cut 20,000 jobs to lower costs in an uncertain economy and in anticipation of weak volumes from its largest customer, Amazon (AMZN).

    ...

Extensive tariffs by U.S. President Donald Trump have slowed down trade and led companies to reduce costs in anticipation of a demand hit. For parcel delivery firms, the slowdown is likely to reduce the need for shipping services between companies.

"The actions we are taking to reconfigure our network and reduce cost across our business could not be timelier," CEO Carol Tome said.

UPS said it was not providing any updates to its full-year outlook due to the economic uncertainty even as it lowers costs through jobs cuts, warehouse closures, increased automation and asset sales.

tariffs are a hostile and political action too

"This is a hostile and political action by Amazon," White House press secretary Katherine Leavitt says of the e-commerce giant's plan to display how much of an item's cost is derived from Trump tariffs. She adds it's not a surprise because "Amazon has partnered with a Chinese propaganda arm."
