Sochan jumper update
Exciting to see Jeremy's shot smoothing out so early in the offseason.

I've seen enough Ben Simmons workout videos to never get fooled again.
i'm kind of worried that all this work on the 3pointer, means he's not working on his post skills and defensive prowess. Then again, his finishing around the rim was massively improved this year, so perhaps it's not warranted.
Shot mechanics look better, the biggest negative in his game that makes rotation lineups so difficult for the coaching staff to manage offensive and defensive output.
I'm not buying his jumper until I see it in a real game. That said, IF his jumper was even at league average it would effect the way we look at this draft and team building because it would mean he could be on the court with Castle.
Is this the new annual tradition now? On the shot itself, it still doesn’t look good. It doesn’t look natural, like he has to think through every step (just like most things he does on the basketball court)
Wow! Sochan shooting like a basketball player. A few thousand more reps and this will be his go-to form.
I'm as much of a Sochan stan as anyone here and even I am not all that impressed. Losing the hitch is important, but he should never be taking pullup or off-the-dribble threes. If there's any shot he should practice 10,000 times it's catch-and-shoot threes, especially from the corners.
SpursTalk about workout vids here: "Nah, I don't believe it. It's a workout video."
SpursTalk in the draft thread: "OmyGOD this workout video. This guy is AMAZING."
Forgive us for being skeptical about a player who refused to take wide open shots at the end of his third season in the league.
Three years of pressure free environment and no substantial improvement.
Can he actually do it and develop a functional shot? Sure, if some players did it after a decade, so can Jeremy after three years.
But as I said, being optimistic about his jumpshot would be naive.
are these the same posters?
scott would say no.
Dude made 28 threes last season. Sochan/Spurs can post all the shooting videos he wants. But as far as I’m concerned he is a scared shooter and that doesn’t go away in one offseason. So I’m happy he works on his shooting but I’m not going to take any of that seriously until he actually proves he can shoot in games.
Until Sochan makes 100 threes in a season idgaf about his “form” or the “work” he is putting in. If he really wants to be a good three point shooter he needs to be shooting from closer range and mastering that. Btw 100 threes made means he would rank about 160 in the league in made three pointers so I don’t think I’m asking for that much.
It may be a possibility they are having him do that so he maintains his form outside of catch and shoot.
it would be useful to know if its the case or not. otherwise theres nothing noteworthy or contradictory about it
Practicing pull up 3’s is interesting. Is he trying to be a small forward? If so, changes the depth chart a little bit.
I'm skeptical of workout videos, period. That's my point.
damn, it's gonna be a long off-season.
There is still a hitch, though not as pronounced as before.
Having a healthy skepticism is probably wise in general, but at some point decisions have to be made. This is what makes the draft so dramatic and entertaining!
To be realistic it's an early season workout vid of a guy with a notorious amount of work to do yet on his shot. I'm seeing baby steps here and I'm not sure if it was ever meant to be some bombs otherwise. As mentioned in my OP, the progress has regressed before so I think that cements where my optimism level lies currently. Okay lol so maybe the hitch isn't "GONE" in my bluefont jest.
It seems about as appropriate of a submission as this thread could see considering the directly sourced 25 offseason news purpose.
I disagree, pop played him at pg because he believed he could be a legitimate ballhandler on the offensive end. If he develops an off the dribble triple, even at .330 success, that would still put him in a completely different category
His shot is still hitchy in a relaxed environment with no pressure or clock or defense. After all these years of work still can't trust it.
The Ben Simmons comps are justified. They need to trade him before getting stuck with his next contract
