ESPN has reported that Spurs is "open-minded" to moving #2 pick. So that Giannas deal might be more and more plausible.
Anyone feel sad and bad for Keldon and Vassell?
Keldon
- Drafted in 2019 and was supposed to be the main guy on the team after SA traded away DeRozen and DJ Murray.
- Had a 22 pts/game season which proved that he can be main guy.
- Now he can't even be at the top 5 option for the team. (Wemby, Fox, Castle, #2 pick, Vassell)
- Taking time of his busy schedule to attend Wemby's introduction press conference.
- With SA adding more talents to the team, he still remain selfless and agree to come off the bench.
- Always try to infect the team with his hyper uplifting scream and energy
- Sacrificed his jersey number to CP3.
- Lost ton of weight last season to help out what the team needs
- Longest tenure Spur during the post-Nephew dark age era.
And now after all these sacrifice, he will be traded in the deal for Giannas.

Is this a recent ESPN report from within the past few hours or something, or is it just speculation on their part?
I'm quite surprised if they'd go for Giannis over drafting Harper and keeping most of their picks.
The thing about the Power of Friendship is that it's Powerful. Never underestimate it's Dark Aura. It can build Rome but it can also destroy it. It's kind of like if Sauron was a real thing.
With that said... know who I didn't see a Mitch's press conference? The Power of Friendship. Hmmmmmm...
I feel sad that they're still on the team tbh.
I know sometimes it could get frustrating seeing Keldon's tunnel vision and Vassell clunking jumpers.
But you know deep in your heart that they have tried their best to be the best version of themselves.
You can see how muscular Vassell has become and Keldon losing weight.
They did the right way and follow the Spurs culture.
But in the end they are just pawns for Giannas
I don't see the spurs beating a Rockets package for Giannis, unless Castle and 2 are on the table.
Castle and #2 for Giannis is still a reasonable deal.
I hope the Spurs don't do it because of the brighter future with having Castle and #2. But Spurs would probably be thinking to appease Wemby to "win now" and also to take advantage of his rookie contract on the salary cap now
the Spurs are always open to trades on draft night and most of the time they don't do anything tbh
It's also the matching salary and picks. You looking at Keldon and Barnes to match, Castle and 2, plus maybe 1 or 2 more firsts. You lose depth and future. Yes for Giannis, but plenty of holes to plug.
Keldon can be our drew gooden
If this is the best version of Vassell, I'm happy to see him go down the road. As a human, I wish him well, but as a Spurs fan. I'll drive him to the bus station.
Don’t believe anything that ESPN says. This just means that ESPN WANTS us to move the pick.
Keldon is a great guy, but he's outlived his purpose. He's not a winning player, despite having some qualities on the floor.
He's awful off the ball, he's at his best attacking the ball, but all of his drives are a roll of the dice and hoping for the best. The outcome is random.
Not a good 3pt shooter and an awful defender, despite his physicality.
If we get Harper, Keldon is redundant and is the first player we need to get rid of.
Devin is another nice guy and a player in theory. He's not what he need him to be, but I can see the Spurs giving him another chance.
One thing is certain, he can't be a starter, no chance. Bad defender, ball stopper and streaky. Everything you don't want in the starting lineup.
Both of them made the most out of their potential with the Spurs. Earned themselves a fortune, I'd even say overstayed their welcome because we could've traded them at their peak value.
Keldon's contract isn't a big deal, but Devin's is becoming risky. If he stays, but loses his spot, he'll become a negative asset and we'll have to pay to get rid of him. Not an issue yet, but soon enough we'll need all the cap space we can get.
Jeremy can also become a wasted asset. He still probably has some minor value right now, but if Spurs give him anything more than $10M a year and he doesn't improve, he'll be a negative asset.
With all the talent influx we're getting and none of them being an ideal fit even if they become the best possible version of themselves, I don't see why would the Spurs go out of their way to fit them in their future plans.
Nope. They were the highest paid pieces during the darkest time period in Spurs history. KJ I like him but if it's about winning basketball games no. Vassell, the literal only good thing about picking Vassell and skipping over Hali is that we sucked so bad that we eventually got Victor instead. Don't feel bad for them. They got their millions and just don't fit here anymore. , we still gotta work out how to fit in Fox with his high salary, Castle the ROTY and the soon to be no.2 pick when the best player available might also be a guard. High paid professional sports are a fickle .
Only if it to facilitate syphoning Giannis to Mavs and getting Flagg. Other than that, I’m keeping the rights to draft Dylan.
I think feeling bad for them would be an insult to Vassell’s hard work this past season in ensuring we are in a position to draft his replacement. Dude wants to be a chucker so let him be one on Milwaukee
Paid millions to be bad at basketball, no i don't feel bad for them.
Vassell has had plenty of time. He can't stay healthy, isn't the player he thinks he is, low IQ, and is over paid. I'm trying to find the positives, at this point??
The most telling fact about these guys is how they keep getting deprioritized every time actual talent is added to the roster. That tells you everything you need to know about them: they’re replaceable.
I never thought keldon had a 22pts per game season.lmao
