The DVT is either fixed, or it isn’t. Playing for France won’t change his condition, only reveal the outcome. I don’t believe he will have further problems, because guys like Ausar and BI have had this same thing, and come back without effect. That being said, if there are problems, they won’t be caused by playing for France, they would be revealed no matter when he resumed playing.
Might be a little OT but that is another reason to draft Harper/not trade for Giannis. The possibility exists that Wemby could have his career derailed out of nowhere, I would rather have Harper in the fold to pivot to if that worst case scenario did happen. I believe the Spurs when they said they believe the DVT was an isolated occurrence and shouldn't impact Vic going forward, but they could be wrong.

This is EXACTLY what I’ve been saying! This is one of the main reasons to just go ahead and draft Harper. With the injury history of someone his size and also him having the DVT health issue, you might as well draft a guy with the best superstar potential as a fall back plan to be prepared for the worst case scenario.

Absolutely necessary to draft a back up center who could be a reliable force moving forward....

    Candidates galore

damn. Why would he need to play for france when there is no world cup or olympics this year? I think he should rest this summer so that he’s fresh and well rested for next season run. And also no excuse for coaching staff to play him 30 minutes per game or less. Stupid decision by him. Smh
Is this a comment from 1998?

Spurs were the first franchise to understand the benefit their players could gain from playing with their national team. Instead of working alone with a coach and extras, international players (this also applies to American players, including young players) play at a high level. They gain experience, they stay fit, and they develop their playing intelligence by learning to deal with different playing situations. It's a luxury to have international players who can come together in the summer, change environments, regain confidence, stay compe ive. For twenty years, most franchises have happily left their players in the national teams because they always come out better.

Also, apart from Team USA, the European Championship brings together a much greater level of density of teams than the World Championships or the Olympic Games (and twenty years ago, an American would not even have talked about the World Championship as only the Olympic Games counted). A little more effort, and you will understand the interest of such a compe ion.

You keep bandying the word "stupid" about. What's hilarious is that it literally fits you to a tee.

skin27 is as dense as it gets. Best to ignore him unless you're into charity work for the mentally impaired or something.

That "possibility" exists for literally every player in the history of every sport.

In fact we might need two centers

The regular back-up/center mentor, like Steven Adams PLUS

the young understudy, center-in-training, like Maluach/Maxime/ etc etc

better for hin to rest this summer espcially coming from a blood clot illness.
I fail to understand why you see Victor playing for France a bad thing... If he plays it means he is healthy, also he does not play compe ive ball for months, to play for France this summer will actually be good for his conditionning so that he is fully ready for summer camp

Of course it does but ok what are you saying? Still doesn’t change my point. Draft the best player JUST IN CASE something happens. Best to have multiple guys with superstar potential on the team than to draft a guy for fit. And possibilities/probabilities have different % chances of happening depending on the cir stances by the way.

He IS Back. Exactly 3 months after being diagnosed with a DVT, Wemby is seen on court ramping up basketball activities. No sign of contact drills yet, but it is probably on the next phase of recovery.

I think it is in an academy/agency in Dallas.. Wemby was attending a WNBA game last night there too..

I think we can safely say that Wemby is little bit ahead of schedule now that's rejoined Tim Martin academy. He is likely putting some serious cardio with light contact drills as part of his workout.

Most the pictures I see with Wemby he’s standing with people who are not right next to him but more slightly in the foreground. He was measured barefoot by the Spurs themselves at 7’3.5” barefoot right after they drafted him so he should be listed at 7’4”. Could he have grown a little since? Sure, but I seriously
    doubt he grew 2.5”.

Unfortunate to see Victor focusing on being a celebrity instead of improving as a basketball player. Guess he hasn’t gotten over himself yet.
