Anyone up for a friendly compe ion for Bragging Rights on who the best Mock Drafter on ST.com?
Scoring rules will follow these, as found on NBADraft.net. Additional rules to follow below the scoring.
ADDITIONAL RULES:
- All entries must be finalized 1 hour before the start of the draft. You can edit as many times as you like, so long as your last edit is before the deadline (though take note of tiebreaker #5, above)
- Only one entry per user
- Any edit timestamps that take place after the deadline will result in disqualification
- Contestants are responsible for scoring their own entry. The highest reported score will then be double checked for accuracy.
- There will be two contests: 1-Round Mock Compe ion and 2-Round Mock Compe ion. If you submit an entry in the 2-Round, that entry automatically enters you in the 2-Round. But you can submit a 1-Round mock and compete in that without submitting a second round.
- The worst mock drafter on the forum must also declare their shame for one year in their signature ("SpursTalk's Worst Mock Drafter of 2025")
- To enter, just put your mock in a reply
- Please no commenting on other people's mocks, that will just unnecessarily clog up the thread. Let's try to reserve replies to entries, and then score submissions at the end.
Some of you really enjoy sucking your own , so here's an opportunity to have something formal with which to do so without getting into thread-bumping wars.

1. Cooper Flagg
2. Maxine Raynaud
3. Dylan Harper
4. Ace Bailey
etc...
So team doesn’t matter in case there is a trade? Just the order in which they are picked?
Correct
I'm in, but I have to give this some thought first. Will edit this post later on, but off the top of my head, some that seem likely include:
1) Flagg
2) Harper
3) Ace Bailey or Tre Johnson, probably to a team moving up
4) Charlotte takes Edgecombe, character guy who plays defense and has upside
5) Whomever from the previously listed names is available
6) Washington goes for upside and takes young toolsy guy with positional size (Maluach? Jakucionis? Demin?)
7) New Orleans: Could see a bunch of players here, but probably big upside or safe with not much in between, like add those I listed for 6, plus Knueppel and Queen
8) Brooklyn: Big chance they move up, best bet is to 3 using Cam Johnson. If Brooklyn stays I think they go upside (faller from the ones listed above), if this is Philly I like Knueppel or Maluach.
9) Toronto: Maluach's likely floor, Carter Bryant starts to be in play. Essengue dark horse.
10) Portland: Jakucionis, Demin, Fears in the upside department, but could also see Carter Bryant or Essengue. Queen ceiling, may also be in play here.
11) Houston: Usually go for value, they made trade out but if not I think this is Knueppel's floor. Could also be Carter Bryant.
12) Chicago: some high upside guy like Jakucionis (Lithuanian like AK), Queen or even yet another guard in Fears.
13) Atlanta: Maluach's ultimate floor if for some reason he falls this far. Otherwise Carter Bryant, Coward, Essengue, Fleming are in play.
14) Spurs: Carter Bryant if available, Sorber is a possibility. I wouldn't be shocked if Essengue or Demin are in play here. Also could trade back with Orlando (16 and 25) or Brooklyn (19 and 26/27), or another team with a lower first plus a future one.
15) OKC: Embarrassment of riches, probably trade out or down. Hard to say what they do if they stay, it doesn't make much sense for them to do so.
16) Orlando: Probably traded, but if they stay I like Nique Clifford here, mature, all around game ready to go. Could also see Coward, Liam McNeely or Nolan Traore.
17) Minnesota: Probably the same guys at 16 are in play here
18) Washington: if they don't use this pick to move eup, I would see another upside swing: Traore, Sorber, Asa Newell, Beringer
19) Brooklyn: similar to 18
20) Miami: wouldn't shock me to see them take Traore or Beringer if available, possibly McNeely or Nique Clifford as well.

Is it just lottery or full first round?
Did you even bother to read?

The reading comprehension in this thread is concerning.
The reading comprehension in this forum is concerning. Posters have no idea how to read for context, let alone basic reading comprehension.

quick logistical question. are mock trades given any consideration or does the trade not matter at all? for instance, if someone had correctly mocked that the spurs selected dillingham at #8, they would have still received the points even though the pick was traded?
Getting any second round pick right should count for like fifty points.
Is mayonnaise an instrument?
from my read its just the slot the player is drafted, not the team
Correct. Trades are irrelevant to this.
One time I tried to get cute with custom rules and I ended up screwing over Guru of Nothing pretty badly in the ST Fantasy Football League. Lesson learned... keep it simple and use someone else's established scoring system. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Usually I remember screwings, but this doesn't ringing any bells. Old age is a uva drug.
Maybe I'm confusing you with someone else... but basically I messed up a decimal place in the settings and kick return yards were significantly overvalued (and really kick return yards shouldn't be there to begin with, to be honest)... someone (I thought you) drafted a kick return specialist (maybe Hester?) high as a result. After week 1, it was clear the error was made so I "fixed it" but I ended up screwing someone who had actually read and strategized around the scoring rules. I refused to be Commissioner henceforth.
Sounds vaguely familiar, but it's hard to believe I had it in me to scrutinize league settings for an advantage. For sure, I'm all about low effort these days.
