He might have something left in the tank. Plus he only has 4 years left on his deal. If it doesn’t work out we can buy him out.
“We’re not going to skip steps…”
The Spurs repeatedly tell us who they are and we never learn!
200 pages. Let’s go.
He might have something left in the tank. Plus he only has 4 years left on his deal. If it doesn’t work out we can buy him out.
The fact that he'll only require a promise to start all 82 games at a position where we have better players is a huge plus
Even though I wanted KD, I'm okay with the Spurs not chasing stars. Wemby is already there, Fox should be borderline All-Star, Castle's 95% scenario of multi time All-Star is still on the table, and Harper might really be That Guy.
Use the picks and exceptions to get a legit backup 5 and upgrade the role players at forward.
it was only a few months ago they traded 3 first round picks for Fox
In the article, the question asked was, “Will you chase stars?”. In that context, this is what I think the Spurs won’t do. Fox wasn’t somebody they chased, IMO.
If they don’t make a trade this offseason this team won‘t make the playoffs. They are still operating like they are a 50-win team when in reality they have become a losing organisation
I'm against any big moves, but getting a legit PF for the starting lineup and a legit backup rim protector is a must.
We could use SF improvements, but that one is optional.
One of Keldon/Barnes/Devin simply has to go and make room for a legit PF.
Starting PF and back up C is the bare minimum. But why trade when they can sign Yabusele and Mason Plumlee while keep the friendship crew together?
Yep, I think we could make a big leap by simply using our picks along with the MLE and BAE assuming that backup C and another option at the 4 are included in that. I don't adhere to the same philosophy that we must make a significant trade this offseason.
unless there was a giannis conversation, i dont think im in favor of the spurs trading any future FRP this offseason
For sure. For me it comes down to what the rotation looks like next year more so than the specific moves made. If our minutes distribution more or less looks the same (Keldon still getting 20+ mpg, Barnes still getting 25+ mpg, Champagnie still getting 20+ mpg, etc.) then that’s just unacceptable IMO.
If we actually use pick 14 on a rookie who can earn somewhat noticeable playing time, then great. Same goes for using the MLE/BAE on guys who will actually have a role. If they do all of those things and cut down on minutes given to others then I think we’re doing just fine.
If our rotation pretty much just looks like it did last year but we’re banking on Fox/Wembg being healthy + Harper coming in…that’s where I’m less happy.
edit: To be clear, I think it's entirely possible we make a big leap even with that final scenario (rotation being the same aside from Fox/Wemby being healthy and adding Harper)...I just don't like the idea of us banking on those things alone. I 100% think we should pursue other means of improvement on top of that.

Max players no, but solid role players yes.
But again the Spurs don’t easily give up on their players, if they can get them in a better situation (Tre and Zollins playing more minutes with the Bulls). Even Lonnie long enough for him to earn his next gig. So I’m really doubtful anybody’s going to get moved if the FO can help it.
Realtalk: i don't understand Batmanu's urge to open a thread for every random rumor linking a role player or a second-tier washed up star to the Spurs. By now, we all know Spurs are being used as leverage in these talks.
Unless it's KD/Fox caliber of player and Shams /Amick/Stein reporting it, we should just stick to scott all-encompassing offseason thread; otherwise it feel like we're needlessly cluttering up the forum
Brian Wright is playing the long game, tbh.Nuggets’ President Josh Kroenke: “The wrong person gets injured and very quickly you’re under a scenario that I never want to have to contemplate, and that’s trading [Nikola Jokic].”
Lol...that's the one you push all your chips in for...
Shout it louder for thpse in the back.
What else you are going to use those 2nds? Branham and Wesley need vet presence in the locker room.
Who are you referring to here? Vassell?
the thing is there are plenty of players who would be the 3rd to 5th best player on the roster available for second round picks. But we can't break up friends.
Dynasty
Your core is 21 and younger with Harper. The Spurs play this right and we’re looking at another decade of being a serious contender.
Honestly I made this thread to share the article contained in the tweet, which is locked behind a stupid paywall. Anyone wanna pay for it?![]()
1- The idea of having a young core that'd grow together into a contender is stupid, especially with today's CBA and coming from PATFO who's won with a mix of different ages/stages of careers.
2- As much as it entertains us we can forget/stop making threads about trading for a star player. It'll never happen.
3- PATFO sent the message "we like our young core" = They'll never quit on Sochan and Vassell, probably to not admit being wrong in their scouting or bad in their player's developments.
4- Let's not forget we have a rookie coach who by essence will cost the team with stupid decisions/mistakes he has to go through to learn his job.
5- I maintain that Wemby probably ended up in the worst franchise he could've ended with if his goal is to end up in the GOAT discussion.
6- you PATFO
Darn, point 5 is not what I expected. Did you only just start thinking this recently?
