Why did you leave out Wemby?

Vassell - FG% 44.3 ; 3P% 36.8 FT% 79.2
Fox - FG% 46.3; 3P% 31.0; FT% 82.7 (avg career 33.0 fluctuated 29.2 to high of 37.1 in second year)
Sochan FG% 53.5; 3P% 30.8; FT% 69.6 (dropped from 77.1 prior year)

Johnson - FG% 48.2; 3P% 31.8; FT% 77.3
Lots of people say Sochan is hopeless. Fox, Johnson and probably Vassell and Champaigne are what they are shooting-wise. Harper is an unknown, IMO Castle and Sochan have had their shooting form reworked and therefore hopefully/should show improvement. What are your expectations and what do you consider acceptable FG% and 3P% for Harper ( provided he’s drafted), Castle and Sochan?
Why did you leave out Wemby?
35% for all 3 is the minimum.
Oh, nvm.
You can add him. I was more interested in those that need to space the florr for Wemby.
Shooting is not only about the percentage, it has to include volume and variety. Real shooters have gravity and this helps the team, e.g. Trae Young isn’t a great shooter by the percentages but the context is that he’s always guarded very closely and has to take a lot of difficult shots. Compared to a player with a high shooting percentage who sits in the corner and shoots only when wide open Young has a significantly greater gravity.
As for Sochan and Castle, I hope they’d be over 5 threes per 36 and at least 33-34%. This wouldn’t obviously be great but it would be a significant improvement.
Agree on all if that. So for a raw number 5 at 33-34%. I’d hope Sochan reaches that. Castle the percent jump would be good but that might be a bridge too far for next year. I’d hope for greater improvement in mid- range and FTs.
The players on our team, and really any nba player, only needs to shoot the 3 good enough so that they actually get guarded at the 3 point line, thus creating the actual "spacing" that everyone associates with 3 point shooting.
Will teams actually close out hard to Castle shooting 3's even if he only shoots 33% on wide open 3's? Then Castle only needs to shoot 33% on wide open 3's because it's having the desired effects.
And all 3's aren't equal. Sochan would have to be a great 3 point shooter on volume for YEARS before any team actually guards him there since he has such a long history ( i mean basically his entire nba career ) as a non shooter and when he does shoot, a terrible shooter.
It doesn't actually fundamentally help the spurs at all for Sochan to go say 4 for 4 shooting 3's in a game. The other team is going to say "Victor is not destroying us and Fox is not getting into the paint putting half our team in foul trouble. This is ing awesome. Sochan keep shooting them. We will actually take two more steps away from you to encourage you to keep shooting them"
