https://spectrumlocalnews.com/tx/dal...xas-settlementAccording to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC), lands near the banks of the Rio Grande that border San Ygnacio belong to the federal government.
IBWC maps uncovered by Spectrum News show areas nestled between the historic town and the Rio Grande are in the floodplain. The land in question was condemned by the federal government in the 1950s when nearby Falcon Lake was constructed.
Protecting private property is what Hull thought she was doing. It turns out that previously believed private property belongs to the federal government.

Not sure why border infrastructure is needed here, except to spoil the view and line donors' pockets

The construction is part of a broader federal effort to expand border infrastructure across the Big Bend region. U.S. Customs and Border Protection has said plans inside the national park do not call for a traditional 30-foot pedestrian wall. The project instead includes vehicle barriers, patrol roads, surveillance technology and other infrastructure.
But the absence of a traditional border wall does not mean the landscape will remain undisturbed.
The latest footage shows bulldozers actively clearing ground at the mouth of Santa Elena Canyon.
The Department of Homeland Security has invoked federal authority allowing it to waive environmental and historic preservation laws to expedite border construction in the region. The waivers have raised concerns among conservationists and residents about what protections remain for environmentally and culturally sensitive areas affected by construction.
Opposition to additional border infrastructure in the Big Bend region has also crossed political lines. Critics have questioned both the environmental consequences and the necessity of constructing extensive physical infrastructure in terrain where mountains, cliffs and canyons already create formidable natural barriers.
Santa Elena Canyon is among the clearest examples.
The canyon is one of the most photographed and visited locations in Big Bend National Park and one of the defining landscapes of the Texas-Mexico border.
Now bulldozers are working at its mouth.
Big Bend does not need to be defended against border crossers. There isn't a national security stake there.
https://apnews.com/article/trump-bor...ca95fa0003327bThe Trump administration said Monday it is temporarily pausing construction of a contentious border construction project in Texas’ Big Bend National Park while the head of the agency tasked with building the wall visits to do an “on-the-ground evaluation.”
The project through the national park in southern Texas has faced fierce bipartisan opposition by critics who say it is marring the area’s pristine environment. They argue the region’s rugged and remote terrain already serves as a deterrent to migrants and smugglers. Border crossings in the area have historically been lower than other regions and have dropped even further over the past two years.
“CBP is pausing all construction activity in Big Bend National Park while I visit and conduct a personal, on-the-ground evaluation,” Rodney Scott, who heads Customs and Border Protection, said on X. Scott said over the next couple of days, he was going to “listen to local leadership, community members and stakeholders” to address what he said were “real” national security threats while protecting the park.
Trump is picking on people who followed the law and did it the right way
it never was about rule following or public safety, it's pure bigotry and xenophobia

I hope I live to see the sadistic degenerates who are doing this disgraced and punished
Hundreds of thousands of Haitians were living and working legally, paying taxes, and contributing. Haiti remains wholly unsafe.
But Trump hates Haitians, and the White House wanted videos of Black people in chains, so they stripped them of status and turned on the cameras.
this 5 year old threat to public safety and US cultural integrity just got deported
