So now that the draft is over, where are we at as far as cap space, future picks and roster spots? Thanks

By my count we are still an “over the cap” team, meaning we a limited to improving via the exceptions (MLE, etc.) and trades. We can also take back more money in a trade than we send out.
In terms of needs:
- Backup C (Lopez?)
- Sniper (one of the Cleveland boys)
- Backup PF (Yabu?)
I don't mind that list. Would like to trade for J Collins if it doesn't cost too much, though. Would prefer that.
Who are the Cleveland boys you're referring to? Which player/s?
I don't expect the Spurs to be selecting inside the top-15 for a very long time. The ATL picks look like hot garbage, but it would be a step too far for me to about Spurs luck in the draft.
Would like to see Raynaud brought in as a project. I view this season for the Spurs analog to a bodybuilding bulk phase. Ac ulate and develop now, make the playoffs, and come into 2026 with full expectations for deep playoff run.
It's crucial that the Spurs make the playoffs this season. I know the west is stacked, but there's no excuse for a healthy Spurs roster to miss the playoffs - none. Not getting playoff experience would be a literal one-year setback for the team's development.
The writing is on the wall even more now that some dudes are going to be traded away.
Backup C and starting PF are the most pressing needs, otherwise I’m optimistic watching the team compete for the next few years.

I'm not ready to give up on the Atl pick yet. They're hesitant to offer Trae a full extension (and if they do they limit themselves). So they have to solve that problem and kristapas is fragile. As constructed i see them fighting for a play-in again and falling further with an injury.
Yeah we can’t really keep one of Vassell or KJ annd may end up trading both. Also Branham and Wesley are gone too. We still are in need of a backup big which we might get in this draft or we end up signing/trading for one at some point this summer

They shouldn't hesitate to move it in a good deal. You can still put protections on it.
I've been fine with moving it in the right deal since we got it. I just don't want to undervalue it, because I still think it's valuable.
Spurs should contact the blazers for Williams or Clingan. They have a boatload of centers
The Spurs are not skipping steps. And they don’t easily give up on their players. Those are given. I really doubt they move any of Vassell, Keldon, Sochan for a John Collins, but maybe future picks? Still I think they rather Sochan prove himself. I see maybe Capela or someone similar signing as backup C. They will evaluate and tweak/add by trade deadline, see what waivers are available. Wemby is a big magnet for ring chasers. And Spurs know that. So they will wait for the River and see what cards are available then.
Why hasn't Williams played much? Has he been hurt?
Yes, he got hurt again last season. Wouldn't want any parts of him on the Spurs.
With Spurs needing or looking to probably clean up the roster some, I could actually see them trade off Branham or Wesley for a 2nd to get back into the draft today.
I kind of expect Branham to stick around this season. He has no trade value other than perhaps to make salaries match. But he's a sunk cost at this point and better than a D-League call-up. As your 15th man you could do worse. Of course, they're not keeping him in order to play him. He's a deep bench injury reserve and garbage time diva. He probably goes to Europe after his Spurs contract expires.
Blake Wesley could very easily have a future in this league. But with Fox/Castle/Harper ahead of him he's not getting any noteworthy minutes. Spurs should trade him to another team where he's likely to get minutes. They'll get something like a top 59 protected 2nd rounder or the draft rights to some Euro drafted in 1998 in return. The point of the trade is to give Wesley a shot in a contract year, not because they need whatever asset they get in return.
I just don't see it for Branham and could see him gone as early as today for a 2nd rounder or something, but I could be wrong. I could see them holding onto Wesley though as an end of the bench type.
The State of the Spurs BBIQ & talent has increased tremendously since yesterday.
The low-IQ players will be forced to develop or perish. KJ, Sochan and Vassell will have to adjust to the new coaches and players. Wemby, Castle, Fox, HB, Harper and Bryant all exhibit some smarts on and off the court. What a welcome change in our culture.

Their front office really likes Clingan so it'd cost a lot to get him (multiple first rounders and decent players). Williams can be had for cheap probably, but his knees are in really bad shape. He's only played 61 games over the past three seasons.
This isn't what exactly what was asked for, but I wanted to do a compare and contrast on the Spurs roster versus where they were before Wemby. Red means the perception of the player has decreased since 2022-23, green means it has increase.

That's a pretty significant levelling up of the roster.
I think there needs to be some minor consolidation of a glut of similar players (Vassell, Johnson, Champ, Barnes, Sochan, Bryant). Some of these guys don't perfectly overlap, but they all overlap to some degree as a wing. Some are more 2/3 while others are more 3/4. I'd like to see us upgrade to a more solid 4. Santi is my ideal choice. I think Champ would be a fine starter if the 4 were better.
Obviously backup big is a huge need. Would like to see Blake stick around as emergency backup guard. I think he can learn a lot from Fox, who is the archetype that Blake should aspire to (fast, penetrating, event generation on D, solid mid range game, threatening-enough of a 3p shot, PnR creator). Branham, is just whatever at this point. Fine as the 15th man, also fine if someone beats him out and you have to waive him.
Just my opinion.
