Wemby won't play for EuroBasket

I just remember last season that he said his aim was to not put on too much weight between seasons. His team thinks that is the best approach to keeping him healthier (and to keep his flexibility and mobility like ScottSpurs mentioned). I can't agree or disagree with that as I simply don't know what is best for him. They said they aim for him to gain between 1-5% every season. I remember talking about it with a few other posters saying that if he gets closer to the 5%, that would be pretty good IMO, but if he only gained closer to the 1% every offseason, I assume he'd likely lose that during the season.
I will ask, the 10 pounds that they say he's gained (that sounds good to me), how much of that is he likely to lose during the season?
In the last three years,
Wemby
Fox
Castle
Dylan Harper
Carter Bryant
What a treasure hoard we have!
Defensively, we can field
Wemby
Sochan (or equivalent)
Carter Bryant
Stephon Castle, and
Dylan Harper (who has defensive potential, too)
Even with Cooper Flagg being white American, seeing the difference in post interactions on NBA social media and other big accounts between his and Wemby's draft day tells you that the latter was on whole different level of hype and expectations..Wemby's posts were consistently doing 10s of thousands likes and Flagg's mostly stay in 4 digits..
Lol yeah, Wemby got over a billion views on youtube during his rookie season. He was #3 I believe out of all NBA players.
Yeah, even Zion had way more hype surrounding him, and i think he was a better prospect than Flagg but obviously the rest is history. To me Doncic was the most underhyped prospect in the past decade and the odds are good he is already a better player than Flagg will ever be.
it's official Victor won't play for France this summer.
Fautoux (new French coach) has commented: Je l’ai régulièrement au téléphone.
translation: I call him regularly. His wish was strong to play during the Euro but reason was the strongest. What he had is not benign. There is a process to be operational again. His will is intact, he is eager to play for France again. For this summer it was too soon with too many uncertainties.
Not sure I'm a fan of the too many uncertainties quote but it is what it is.
Good for him just focus on being ready when the NBA season starts.
The normal clearance period is six months, which would be some time in August. That’s likely after the Euro Basket compe ion.
Shouldn't he rest at least 6 months from when hhe had the blood clots?
What exactly is the Basketball he's supposed to play in? What's it called? Eurobasket? And when is the date of it? Would it be 6 months when it starts?
Edit : I didn't read all the way down to the last post. Looks like Exstatic has already explained/said it about the 6 months of not playing after the blood clots. We/The Spurs would want to give Victor the best chance to recover. Not rush him back to play in full intensity games in less than 6 months.
I don't want to read too much into it, you are both right about the 6 months and that in terms of timing it was very tight indeed. Nevertheless the possibility of him playing was in the air until recently, if the protocol length was without doubt annoucement could have been a while ago, there was some hope in the French camp that he could play.
Either way I'm fine with the decision obviously, I just wonder what kind of uncertainties Fautoux is talking about.
Thanks for posting that stuff btw. I, too, wonder what those uncertainties are.
Is that Arenas? hahahahaha
he dont understand them 3 and D
oh cmon! lol
The France Eurobasket thing starts August 27th, just after what would be his 6 month mark from the blood clot being found. I am guessing the issue is the French Team is probably starting their training camp in the next week or two, which is a bit too soon for his recovery. Sounds like the decision was made to hold him out due to an abundance of caution more than anything.
Could also be blessing from a Spurs perspective that he can spend more time in San Antonio working with his new teammates and coaches as most NBA teams start doing optional/unofficial workouts and scrimmages in late August/early September.
I will be pleasantly surprised if Wemby is ready to play and in good shape when the season starts.
Our best bet is that he is healthy and his minutes restrictions do t last too long.
Interesting that Yabusele isn’t playing, anyone know why?

That's wild. What a kick. Victor seems to have a passion for a lot of things.
