The BOP has never had a formerly incarcerated inmate work as an employee at any level, according to a senior bureau official.

“Josh brings to this role something our agency has never had before at this level, a perspective shaped by lived experience, proven innovation and national impact,” Director William K. Marshall III said in a memo to staff Thursday.

“His firsthand understanding of our facilities — of the tension, the risk and the importance of trust — makes him uniquely positioned to advocate for the resources and reforms front-line staff need to do their jobs safely and effectively,” added Marshall, a former prison commissioner in West Virginia whom Trump selected as BOP director in April.

Wow this guy is a piece of .

Fifth arrest and potential return to prison: In April 2025, Mr. Braun was arrested for a fifth time since his sentence was commuted. This led to a judge ordering his detention and overseeing a revocation hearing to determine if he violated the terms of his commutation and should be sent back to federal prison.

Previous arrests and charges: Before his fifth arrest, Braun had been arrested multiple times. These arrests reportedly involved allegations of:

Assaulting his wife and elderly father-in-law.

    Groping a nanny.

Menacing health-care workers with an IV pole at a hospital.

    Petty larceny.

Assaulting an acquaintance and his 3-year-old child.

Loan sharking and FTC action: After getting out of prison, Braun was banned from the cash-advance business by a New York state judge. In 2024, a federal judge ordered him to pay a $20 million fine in a suit brought by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for predatory lending practices. The FTC accused his loan company of illegally withdrawing money from customers' accounts and sometimes threatening physical violence to coerce payments.

Context of clemency: Mr. Braun's sentence was commuted after his family used a connection with Charles Kushner, father of Jared Kushner, to bring the matter before Mr. Trump. This situation, as highlighted in news reports, drew attention to the process of granting clemency during the Trump administration and concerns about the vetting of criminal histories.

No wonder Trump liked this guy.

Pardoned J6er gets life sentence for plotting murder and mayhem against federal employees

A federal judge sentenced a January 6 rioter to life in prison Wednesday for plotting to assassinate the federal agents who’d investigated him.

U.S. District Judge Thomas Varlan ordered 36-year-old Edward Kelley to spend the rest of his life behind bars, after Kelley was convicted on the charges of conspiracy to murder federal employees, solicitation to commit a crime of violence, and influencing a federal official by threat.

Kelley received his sentencing in front of more than a dozen of the targets on his “kill list,” which had specifically taken aim at individuals working at the FBI’s headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee. Prosecutors said that Kelley had created the list while awaiting trial in his insurrection case, and that he had attempted to recruit others to help him target the office with car bombs and drones, or attack individuals at their homes or public places.

Kelley was previously convicted in November 2024 of multiple felonies and misdemeanors related to his participation in the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, where he pushed a police officer to the ground before being one of the first rioters to break into the building.

Trump goes to bat for rich crooks, leaving victims holding the bag

Milton, who was estimated by Forbes to be worth $1.1 billion in 2021, was convicted of defrauding investors, and the U.S. Department of Justice wanted to secure over $660 million in res ution for his victims. But Trump’s pardon wiped out that monumental sum. And this week, the SEC dropped any chance of the government recouping money from civil penalties. It’s unclear how much money the SEC may have been pursuing from Milton.

attacked Capitol Police with bear spray and a metal whip

Andrew Taake, who was convicted and later pardoned for his role in the Jan. 6 insurrection in Washington D.C., pleaded guilty Tuesday to online solicitation of a minor — a Harris County case from 2016 — in exchange for three years imprisonment.

However, plea paperwork shows Taake, 37, will not serve any of that prison sentence as he spent more than three years in federal lockup for storming the U.S. Capitol in 2021 with a mob of people intent on disrupting the certification of Joe Biden's election as president. A woman who encountered him on the Bumble dating app — and who he bragged to about his involvement — reported him to the FBI.

Taake was convicted for his role in attacking police officers with bear spray and a metal whip, according to federal officials.

Taake is en led to credit for time served in the federal and county case.

The plea agreement requires Taake to register as a sex offender for the next 10 years. He was accused of sending explicit messages and photos to an undercover police officer posing as a 15-year-old on the Plenty of Fish dating website.

    Crypto founder buys a pardon

President Trump has pardoned Changpeng Zhao, the convicted founder of the crypto exchange Binance, according to people familiar with the matter, following months of efforts by Zhao to boost the Trump family’s own crypto company.

The president signed the pardon on Wednesday, the people said. Trump recently indicated to advisers that he was sympathetic to arguments of political persecution related to Zhao and others, one of the people said.

I think Trump has trouble hearing people, he seems to have trouble understanding questions from the press

COLLINS: Today you pardoned the founded of Binance. Can you explain why you did that?

    TRUMP: Which one was that?

    COLLINS: The founder of Binance

TRUMP: I believe we're talking about the same person, because I do pardon a lot of people. I don't know. He was recommended by a lot of people.
