Utah owns draft rights. He can play overseas, hold out for a year without signing a contract and become a free agent/be drafted again following year.

Can only negotiate with team that owns draft rights.

If he were to hold out it would be really bad for him career wise.

I don't think Utah will budge
So if he plays overseas, he can still re-enter the draft next year, or does Utah still hold his draft rights?

Also, when you say sit out a year, do you mean from the NBA?

I believe they can play in another league for a year, sit out for a year. After a year passes from their initial draft, the team loses draft rights and they (the player) can re enter draft, or choose to just sign with a team as a free agent. I do not know what type of contract details they could get but that is the basics I know

    *edit*

He can sit out for a year and team that drafted losses draft rights.

If he plays in another league team still owns draft rights for one year when he stops playing in a different league I think

Let him come to Europe, yes. He will probably be cut quickly. I can't see a team agreeing to bring in a player with no experience and such a deplorable state of mind.

He wanted to play for Washington? Someone send him to Seattle. He will definitely be the star of the SuperSonic.

And if he finally comes after months of no news. Let him be sent to the G-League to teach him respect.
Ace Bailey in Europe would be hilarious. Especially if a serbian coach tells him to off during time outs and then fans insult him. This boy ain't built for that type of environment.

OK, thanks. That would be bad then if Utah loses his draft rights and they get nothing/no compensation and lose the 5th pick of the draft, they'd be pissed.

    Edit:

Since the draft has already happened, Utah can't go back and pick another player. He has to play for them, as, if he wants to be traded, I don't see them getting equal value back in a trade. The NBA might have to step in and force him to go there if he tries to hold out and not play for them.

Why would the NBA step in? If Ace sat out a year, he’d be exactly following the rules that the teams and the union agreed to. It’s not like Ace Bailey has discovered some hidden loophole that no one knew about and is cheating the Jazz out of something.

If Ace doesn’t want to play for Utah, he can hold out a year. That’s his decision. Maybe it forces a trade, maybe it doesn’t.. but no, the league wouldn’t step in to help Utah.

Yeah, maybe he's not breaking any rules if he does do it, but it's just not a good look for the NBA. I don't know, I should probably shut up as I wanted Cooper to refuse to play for the Mavs .

With Ace, not sure how strongly he told Utah that he doesn't want to play for them. If he wasn't very clear, then it's on him and he needs to just suit up and play for them. If he was clear and very adamant to them about not wanting to play there, and they still drafted him, then I guess that's on Utah.

Isnt the last guy who pulled this Danny ferry? He refused to play for the clippers and sat out a year, forcing the trade to Cleveland for Ron Harper. I’d say given the situation the clippers came up on the winning end of the deal for once.

I also recalled that started the issue with rookies holding out for huge contracts, Webber signed some crazy deal, then the following year big dog robinsons deal drew headlines and the league had to step in and implemented the rookie contract thing. Not sure if I remembered wrong on this.

Very interesting and just more insight to the concept that the draft isn’t really a draft, at least not completely. Players and agents (certain ones at least) in certain ranges have a lot more control over their destinations than we’d like to think.

It just dawned on me that the pick Sacramento used to draft Maxime Raynaud was acquired from us in the Jalen McDaniels salary dump, but at the time it was Top 55 protected. We later removed those protections in the Fox trade.

So does Raynaud gets to join the list of players ST wanted the Spurs to take, only to get traded away?

If nothing else, this will make watching Raynaud's career over the next two or three years much more interesting.
I'm still pissed about Ajay Mitc . This year I'll be following Fleming, Kalkbrenner and Penda, Raynaud I'd have seriously considered but he was a step behind them for me. I'll just defer judgment until we have a clear picture with free agency and trades.

You and I were on Ajay pretty early in the process last year. I didn't have any real SRP favorites that fell to 38 this year, but I was crossing my fingers for Penda. Will definitely be following them!

I'm pretty sure all those guys will be at least better than 2 players on the Spurs main roster

Lacks self awareness, thinks she's better than she is, loud, unskilled. Any objective person will find her unlikeable, imho.
Well Clark hasn't won at any level. No high school state le. No NCAA le. And she's not the best player in the league, nor is her team. You're effectively cheering on a loser at this point until she can prove she can win anything. No matter how much your hate is for AR, all of those things you mentioned hasn't stopped her from being successful. She's playing in the same league Clark is. I'll go as far to say that the ONLY reason you love Clark is because the media told you to do so because it definitely isn't because she's a world class winner.

Reese did it all by herself. She did have any help from a loaded LSU team.

Well, AR plays for the Sky. Indy did hand NY their first loss this year.

Clark missed 5 games, they were 2-3 without her. Bonner quit on the team, so they cut her. Her ego wouldn't allow herself to come off the bench. Cunningham has missed games with injuries.

Now, the last 3 games, CC couldn't drop in the freakin ocean. Her shot is off. But, at least she is still dishing serious dimes.

    Game 2 1pt loss
    Game 4 2pt loss
    Game 5. 6pt loss
    Game 6. 2pt loss

They got blown out of the gym against atl 19 it's

They had decent leads against GS and LV before struggling in the late 3rd and 4th Q of both games. Wilson came to life in the 2nd half with MVP level pla, after a pitiful 1st half.

Also, besides injuries....they do have a new coaching staff and their HC keeps having to leave for personal reasons, I beli6somethong to do with her chock, Lisa Salter.
At the end of the day, it's about wins. Clark hasn't lead any team to any type of le, even going back to high school. This is not a true leader and winner operates but I understand that y'all will continue to move the goal post for her. Again, I see her as an average WNBA player until she actually wins something.

Probably will take more than a year to get our answer, but one of the more intriguing storylines will be seeing how Coward vs. Bryant pans out. These 2 were widely considered the best wing options where we were picking…it’ll be interesting to see if we end up looking back on this draft being thankful Memphis took Coward, or if we’ll be pissed we barely missed on him.

edit: Guess you could also toss Essengue into the mix with him getting picked right before us as well

He went to Stanford, which is like an hour or two away. Maybe he has a girl or just likes the area.
