They should just dump everything except The Club and the two Spurs forums. The Political forum is nothing but a cesspool.

tbh, do we even need Think Tank anymore other than as an archive? Just make that one read only, tbh.

It's not about crowdfunding, it's about site ownership that's seemingly MIA.
Top tier forum hosting is like $300-500 per year, that's nothing considering the traffic spurstalk has.

If this place indeed goes down, I'd prefer us to get together and get a new forum running instead of using a subreddit.

I don’t know why they wouldn’t hand this over to people that care. Or at least accept help.

Obviously I prefer that we stay here and get this place up to shape but if anyone is interested in getting together to set up a new forum I’m in.

I have money and resources that would help.

There is a ton of traffic here. We should have a forum that is running well with plenty of user friendly plugins etc.

If enough of us migrate others will follow.

It's private, so it probably hides it from you unless you're signed in or can sign up. It's viewable with a browser on a computer, don't know about mobile browsers.

I’d be sad if they just let this forum die. It seems people are willing to take it over. Why not allow more people to help with site administration/maintenance?

I think Discord could work, but I know nothing about running one and I'm afraid it might be too "techy" for a lot of folks here to migrate to. Ideally we just get the servers here stable and the software updated.

Forum is hosted on a Mint Mobile phone so data is deprioritized at busy times.

I have used discord a little bit, but wouldn't mind how to learn using it. That would make me want to learn to use it if Spurstalk went down and that was the alternative.

This site definitely used to have a live chat. I used to talk to a few members years ago on it after playoff games in the TD era. Not sure if he's still around, but Sean Cagney give me a shout out if you're still here under a different username?
