He also had a long interview with L'equipe.

    Some quotes I found interesting...

speaking of his health issue..«Je suis officiellement autorisé à reprendre (l'entraînement collectif).

"I have been officially cleared by Spurs medical staff to return to collective practice. Ouf at last I will be able to play basket. My injury has been an adventure of course but the toughest part is behind me. I'm much better physically and mentally".

«On peut dire aujourd'hui que cette thrombose est officiellement derrière moi. Normalement, ça ne se reproduira pas»

"One can say today that this bood clot is officially over. Normally it won't happen again"

«Je dois continuer un travail spécifique pour (son épaule) et surtout reprendre tout ce qui concerne (ses) habitudes de basket». «Ça fait cinq mois que je n'ai pas fait d'opposition à 5 contre 5. Si je devais avoir un match demain, ce serait risqué»

"I have to keep following a specific work for my shoulder and more importantly everything around my basket routines" "It has been 5 month I did not play 5 vs. 5. If I had to play a game tomorrow it would be risky"

«Évidemment. J’ai eu la peur de ne plus pouvoir jouer au basket. Je pense qu’il nous arrive tous, parfois, d’avoir des réflexions irrationnelles sur les sujets qui nous tiennent le plus à coeur. Mais ce type de pensées te fait aussi changer en tant que personne, dans le bon sens.»

"Of course I was afraid to not be able to play basket anymore. I think everybody has some irrational thoughts about topics close to our heart. But this kind of thoughts change as a person, for the better"

"When you have a health issue that serious in general not only because I'm a basketball player, we cannot take risks. I'd loved that my reconditioning was faster but without being sure I could not be part of the Euro"

We already knew it but it was not benin injury. Hopefully as he said it won't happen again... but scary nonetheless

oh, yeah. wemby will never reach that level. but magnus is a big sports fan so it wouldn't shock me if the two wound up having some sort of friendly match. hopefully, wemby would last a little longer than bill gates did.

Did that episode of cold as balls get released? I had a look a while ago, but didn't see it? Did he actually end up filming it?

If he does get a signature shoe, then I'm going to take a hard look at buying them. Haven't bought any BB shoes for a long time now as I haven't played for quite a while. I used to also like wearing basketball shoes casually when I was younger, but now I'd prefer to wear other shoes.

As cool as that is, and i have no doubt some of it will be helpful, part of me can’t help but think he could have spent some time in a basketball gym working on individual stuff in non contact settings

not all athletes are the same. as much thought that Wemby seems to put into his routine, i would think there is a rhyme and reason to just about everything he does in the offseason.

Let's be clear, the only reason Wemby got to around and do all this cool stuff this summer is because he was not allowed to go 100% on basketball.
I'm glad he made the best of the situation and gained some incredible life experiences but in a normal off-season he does half as much fun stuff and way more basketball.

I expect that he'll be VERY RUSTY to start the season as he rounds back into form.
The idea that a summer of kung fu and chess would suddenly lead to a leap in basketball ability doesn't compute for me.

I also still have questions about the fatigue he showed near the end of his 2nd season.
It was particularly bad in those weeks before he was shut down, but we've also been told that had nothing to do with DVT.
I don't know what to think, but I have seen with my own eyes that fatigue has been an issue for him throughout his two NBA seasons.
Can we become a high energy player who goes more than 30 mpg? Or more efficient with his energy usage?

My prediction is that he'll have a very slow start to the season but will ultimately put together a top 10 season.

I don’t think Wemby will average or should average more then 30 minutes a game. To many games he was gasing out and was hurting team rather then helping hence the lazy 3 ball shooting. I think the Spurs should start him off slowly especially on back to backs at least in beginning of season. My main concern with Wemby is how is going to handle the physicality of NBA playoff games?

Normally a player will have a huge leap on their 3rd season. I expect wemby to finally mature, know how to play inside the paint and reduce those low iq plays like dribbling too much and jacking up 30ft 3’s. If that happens i think he will finish atleast top 5 in the MVP.

You’re stuck in the 90s, brah. Unless you’re a unicorn like Jokic or Wemby who can create for themselves and for others, you’re not winning an MVP as a big. If you expect him to get into the paint, catch an entry pass, and throw up a hook shot, AND be in the MVP convo, you will be disappointed. That type of game makes him a support player, dependent on guards to get him the ball. The only post player to win since Duncan was Joel Embiid, and the voters got ripped to shreds for that. Jokic should be sitting on a four peat. Jokic is an offensive hub, as Wemby could be.

BTW, Wemby shot 42% on pull up 3s last year, and that includes the logo shots.
