Signed FAs can’t be traded until at least December.
My bad... Sign him and use him as trade bait after December. Got it.

was thinking more in context of giving up the $2.1m from Olympiakos and playing for $600k this year. (though it was unclear from reports if that was $2.1/per or over 3 years)

    Shams

David Jones-Garcia – All-Summer League first team breakout guard – has agreed on a two-way NBA contract with the San Antonio Spurs, agents Deirunas Visockas and Guillermo Bermejo of Gersh Sports tell ESPN. Jones-Garcia starred for the Spurs this month (22 PPG, 6 RPG, 53% on 3s).
For those who watched SL, is he good enough to run the Austin offense as the primary creator?

Yes he is. Which is why I thought he might be a little too much of what they already have to stay.

Thankfully, this Goat has an opportunity to play for the main squad.

Meh, it will be an adventure if he and Nelson share those duties. Both are projects in that regard but not hopeless.

surprised it's just a two-way, but glad we got him. We got great depth now and still 2 open roster spots.

For sure. Jameer played descent as the lead PG. But for sure DJG was pretty clutch basket getter. Why it took so long and while not getting a better offer, except playing for Olympiakos, I don’t know.

Yes, it was actually when he wasn't in the game when our offense struggled with the rotations we used in SL.

Minus the games when Harper played.

Also loved in the one game vs Hornets he struggled offensively, he still had good rebound numbers. Didn't check out in that regard.

NBA GMs are watching every dollar in the age of the second apron. You’ll see veterans wait until training camp to sign discount deals.

Nice signing. Might just be a great G League guy, but there’s enough there to hope he can tighten his handle and improve his passing reads on drives and maybe stick as a guy who can handle the ball a bit as a deeper rotation guy. If not, he’ll need to focus on really scaling down his game and being an off-ball scorer/shooter who is a pest defensively and in the boards.

He is like having a second round pick sign a two way. We didn’t want another rookie on the roster and he gives us an intriguing prospect that improved dramatically from last year to this year. Maybe he can make another jump next year.

What the are we doing with the last 2 spots though? Slim pickings out there now. Makes me feel like a big trade for players is around the corner like a 2 for 1 kinda trade.

    Very nice.

You have to imagine that Riley Minix and probably Harrison Ingram sign the other 2-way contracts. Although both are much more flawed than DJG in my opinion.

I like the last two-open spots for tweaking, from waivers and/or who can be had at trade deadline. Depends where Spurs are going into the playoffs if they need a bruiser big, or another defensive wing, or a caliber vet becomes available. It leaves them option

If they fill both, I kind of think Minix and Mensah get the last two roster spots with Osifo or Nelson getting the last two way.

Doesn't seem like the Spurs to poach from other teams.

If they go with more experienced players at the two regular slots, it might signal they are more serious about a playoff run.
