Would be hilarious but also I'd feel bad if Keldon now gets traded before the season starts

I'm pretty sure the warriors can't sign Horford until this Kuminga thing gets sorted.

Luka signs a 2+1 Max extension with LAL that allows him to become a FA at year 10 (when he can sign a 35% max and start to recoup what he lost in the SuperMax when Dallas traded him)

The “Luka FA 2026” fever dream of so many posters ends, just like it was always going to

It probably actually ended when Dallas made the Finals in 2024. One of the reasons LD was probably so shocked at being traded was that he never planned to leave.

I may be mistaken, but I seem to recall you being CEO of the "2026 Free Agent Class is Stacked, Headlined by Luka Doncic" Corporation. Apologies if I am misremembering.

In any event... great players don't become Free Agents and expectations should be adjusted to this reality. The real "cap space" is having all sorts of different contracts and assets available for matching in trades.

True, but great players also leverage upcoming free agency to steer their way into their preferred team, especially when said team has the ability to sign them outright in the near future. The mere threat of that happening is a powerful incentive to land one such player for cheap, as we saw with Fox. Having a clean book and assets at your disposal really does pay off, that's a big part of why I'd like the Spurs to get off the Vassell contract before it's too late, even if the return is underwhelming.

I probably mentioned him as part of the class, pre-Finals appearance. At the time, our best PG was Tre Jones. Now, we have options.

It was a stacked class. Now, it’s pretty much Trae, plus any RFAs from this year who sign their QOs.

After all extensions are done the 2026 free agent class is going to be as barren as this year’s. The teams with significant cap space - Wizards, Bulls, Jazz - will still be in the business of acquiring bad contracts for assets not significant free agents.

Free agency is pretty much dead and as we see teams now don’t want to hand out long contracts even at MLE money.

I think it's less about willingness to hand out money, cause big extensions are common, and more about the quality of player that makes it to UFA is much lower than in the recent past making cap room less valuable. The recruiting is done when the player has a year or two left on their contract, like Fox.

When the Fox made it known to the Kings that he wanted out, there was no reason for the Kings to deny the Spurs permission to talk to his agent and start negotiating the future. I wouldn't be surprised if Fox's extension was basically agreed to before the trade was even finalized. There's always the risk of a major injury in between just this is the way things seem to work now.

Hoopshype showing around $40 million for Holmgren and Jalen Williams—each—after this next season? If that’s correct, that’s a jump of around $30 million per player, and will make OKC one of the highest-paying teams in the NBA.

Hartenstein has a team option for 26-27 season and they drafted Sorber, it's obvious what's going to happen.

Celtics have done an admirable job of shedding payroll. May not win them a lot of games next year, but they accomplished their mission.

Throw another Max at Trae Young tbh. A Fox-Young defensive backcourt would be….special.
