These coaching buyout numbers will never not blow me away. It's almost better for a guy like Franklin to get fired and not have to do any work for a few years. Or the rest of his life if he wants. He could just have fun coaching peewee.
I think A&M firing and buying out Jimbo was where all of this crossed the Rubicon, and now it feels like we've normalized it with teams needing to fire coaches sooner for many reasons such as portal recruiting.
I'm way more interested in the actual moves that are made as opposed to the contract stuff.
For example, Penn State has had only four coaches (non-interim) since 1950, and I'm anxious to find out if the Florida/FSU jobs have ever been open at the same time.
20+ jobs opening up and the domino effect of that will be wild, but holy if we see up to 40 changes which is 30% of the FBS.
Yeah that's cool historical context stuff but I'm wondering where the breaking point is for some of these schools..... even the ones in the P4 conferences. They're writing checks their asses are struggling to cash.
