Shapiro and Buttigieg are atrociously unelectable candidates. If they really want the far left pro-Mamdani base to not turn out, they'll nominate Shapiro. Does he even win Pennsylvania honestly as the POTUS nominee? His kind isn't popular at all and Buttigieg is slightly more palatable to the general electorate as VP than POTUS but still a huge liability to social conservatives and religious people who might be more neutral to left leaning economically.

Democrats should want Vance to be the nominee, barring some pipe dream like Marjorie Taylor Greene or Nikki Haley that would never happen. Even if Rubio is a strong and very electable VP choice, there's no question that Vance is a liability, has base issues and irritates women voters and a lot of moderates. Not as popular with the white working class as Trump given his Ivy League background. Not as popular with the right wing given his questionable faith and family choices.
