    "mega detention centers"

The Trump administration is exploring buying warehouses that were designed for clients like Amazon and retrofitting them as detention facilities for immigrants before they are deported, a move that would vastly expand the government’s detention capacity, according to a Homeland Security Department official and a White House official.

The precise warehouses that Immigration and Customs Enforcement may buy have not yet been determined, but the agency is looking at locations in the southern U.S. near airports where immigrants are most often deported, the DHS official and the White House official said. Selecting such warehouses would “increase efficiency” in deportations, the DHS official said.

A deal to purchase the warehouses, which on average are more than twice the size of current ICE detention facilities, is past the early stages but not yet final, the DHS official and the White House official said. The DHS official described the warehouses as future “mega detention centers.”

    satanic callousness and cruelty

Rodney is a disabled double amputee who came to America at two years of age for medical care. He didn’t make the choice, his parents did. Living in America is all he’s ever known.

He built a life for himself and runs a barber shop in Atlanta. He recently became engaged to be married. He is a job creator in his community and is well loved by friends and neighbours.

So why does ICE have him? Because when he was a teenager he was charged with burglary. The state of Georgia later gave him a full pardon for the crime, and he’s never had so much as a parking ticket in the thirty years since.

That doesn’t matter to this regime though, because it’s not about going after the worst of the worst criminals. It’s about making money. It’s about hitting a quota. They often target those who can’t fight back. The elderly, the disabled, the unhoused. People who’ve done nothing wrong and are simply trying to build a better life for themselves.

When ICE grabbed Rodney, he was in the process of receiving new prosthetic legs. The detention centre is refusing to let him have a day pass to go get them, so his health is declining.

His old legs need to be charged for long periods of time, and more often than not it isn’t being done.
He was unable to make it to the dining room for meals, so other detainees were bringing him food. The facility offered him a manual wheelchair, but he’s missing digits on one of his hands and is unable to push it.

He’s been there nearly ten months, and in that time his disabilities have not been taken into consideration.

Now they’re threatening to send him back to Liberia which his fiancé says is surely a death sentence in his current condition.

everyone has due process rights in the US -- including non-citizens

In a unanimous decision, the jury awarded $112 million to the class of 674 people who were part of the 2017 lawsuit against Suffolk County and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department for unlawfully holding individuals in county jails after posting their bail or resolving their cases, for the sole purpose of facilitating the immigration enforcement authorities to take them into federal custody.
The case, Orellana Castañeda et al. v. County of Suffolk and Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office et al.,does not address current policies in Suffolk County, though the issues at play echo community concerns about local law enforcement cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.

“This decision brings long-overdue accountability,” said José Pérez, Deputy General Counsel at LatinoJustice PRLDEF. “The jury confirmed what we have argued all along, that Suffolk County’s actions trampled the basic due process rights guaranteed under the 14th Amendment. Today’s verdict is justice served and our clients courage ensures these types of abuses will hopefully not be repeated.”

The case, brought by LatinoJustice PRLDEF and Winston & Strawn LLP, challenged Suffolk County’s practice of unlawfully holding individuals in county jails after they should have been released (because their bail had been posted or their case had been resolved), for the sole purpose of facilitating a direct handover to immigration enforcement authorities.

The verdict in the week-long trial in the US District Couty in the Eastern District follows a January ruling by U.S. District Court Judge William F. Kuntz II, who presided over the case, that Suffolk County’s cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), specifically, its practice of holding individuals solely on the basis of ICE civil detainers, violated the Fourth Amendment and the New York State Cons ution.

The jury’s decision applied to two outstanding issues in the case – whether Suffolk County also violated class members’ 14th Amendment procedural due process rights by failing to notify detainees why they were being held beyond their lawful release dates and the damages owed for those who were deprived of their liberty.

The Court’s order will require Suffolk County to compensate the affected class members.

Trump, Miller and Noem outsourced the torture of completely innocent people

The Trump administration never released a complete list of the 252 Venezuelan men imprisoned in El Salvador or the crimes it claimed they had committed.

Using a leaked list of the names, The Times found that a relatively small share of the men — about 13 percent — seemed to have a serious criminal accusation or conviction in some part of the world. (The Times searched multiple public records databases, but the American government may have more information that it has not released.)

Of the 40 men interviewed for this article, The Times found criminal accusations, beyond immigration and traffic offenses, against three of them.

Should be death. They're invaders and their first act of crossing our borders is criminal.

You claim not to be a Marxist while perpetuating Marxian ideology to a T masked in virtue. You're a globalist and thus, a Marxist by nature.

Trump doubles down on plan for 600,000 Chinese student visas despite MAGA backlash

President Donald Trump on Monday defended his administration’s plan to offer 600,000 visas to Chinese students — a move that has drawn criticism from within conservative circles.

Fox News’ Laura Ingraham pressed Trump during an interview on "The Ingraham Angle," questioning how the proposal was "pro-MAGA" if it crowded out spots for American students and whether universities were "getting rich" from Chinese money.

Trump argued that foreign students — particularly from China — are vital to keeping U.S. universities financially stable, adding that cutting the number of Chinese students in half would cripple the system.

"We do have a lot of people coming in from China. We always have, China and other countries. We also have a massive system of colleges and universities. And if we were to cut that in half, which perhaps makes some people happy, you would have half the colleges in the United States would go out of business," he said.

DHS broke a pre-Trump consent decree by arresting people without warrants

A federal judge on Wednesday said he plans to grant bond to hundreds of immigrants whose arrests under “Operation Midway Blitz” allegedly violated a consent decree against “warrantless arrests.”

U.S District Judge Jeffrey mings ordered the Department of Justice to produce a list by Nov. 19 of which of the 615 potential class members were still in custody.

As long as a detainee had no criminal history or prior removal order, mings said he would allow their release on a $1,500 bond, pending the outcome of immigration proceedings.
