intimidating US citizens on the basis of skin tint
https://www.propublica.org/article/m...ice-harassmentWhen Reggie Williams turned 18 two decades ago, his mother entrusted him with his birth certificate. Keep it on you at all times, she advised, in case you encounter police.
On a recent afternoon, he had a copy in his wallet, along with his state ID, as he walked from his uptown apartment in Memphis, Tennessee, to a nearby corner store.
A Memphis Police Department cruiser pulled up, and two officers questioned him: Where was he coming from? Where was he going?
Williams responded, and the interrogation continued: Did he have any weapons on him? No. Any drugs? No. When asked to empty his pockets, the 39-year-old artist turned over his wallet and phone.
Minutes later, four men poured out of an unmarked SUV with tinted windows. They carried rifles and wore body armor — but no identifying badges.
He thought of his family. “Deep down, I felt like I was not gonna make it home,” said Williams, who is Black.
The Oct. 15 incident occurred about two weeks after the National Guard and 30 other local, state and federal agencies descended upon Memphis as part of President Donald Trump’s order authorizing “hypervigilant policing” to end violent crime. In addition to targeting violent criminals, the operation dubbed “Memphis Safe Task Force” has ensnared innocent residents of this majority-Black city.
Among those who have reported being harassed: a ride-share driver stopped for not wearing a seat belt despite having one on as she drove a passenger to the airport; a pastor pulled over for looking lost as she left a church gathering; and, in a case of mistaken iden y, a 72-year-old man roused from bed and marched out of his apartment while clad in only his robe and underwear.
None of these people were ultimately ticketed or arrested. But they told MLK50: Justice Through Journalism and ProPublica that they feared for their safety during what they described as indiscriminate and intimidating police encounters. While none of the law enforcement agencies involved responded to specific questions about these residents’ experiences, the news organizations corroborated their accounts using contemporaneous text messages and social media posts, as well as interviews with neighbors and relatives.
“I really believe that if I didn’t have that birth certificate, I would be somewhere in a facility,” said Williams, recalling one of the armed federal agents approaching him aggressively to ask if he was from Ethiopia or Ghana. “If you’re not white, we’re just all going to be targeted.”
You never explained why you want secret police who can disappear US citizens without cause.

https://www.chicagotribune.com/2025/...-care-teacher/A federal judge ruled Wednesday that the U.S. government’s mandatory detention of Diana Patricia Santillana Galeano, the day care teacher arrested at a Chicago preschool, is illegal and she must be given a bond hearing.
According to the ruling by U.S. District Judge Jeremy Daniel, Santillana will be given a bond hearing in front of an immigration judge, who could order her released while her civil deportation case proceeds. Her hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
Santillana’s case has generated widespread backlash. In a video circulated online, federal agents are seen pulling the screaming woman, a mother of two from Colombia, through the glass vestibule at the Rayito de Sol Spanish Immersion Early Learning Center in North Center, in the early morning hours of Nov. 5.
She is heard saying, “I have papers,” in Spanish as agents pin her against the officers’ car.
School officials said the woman, who cares for infants, had authorization to work in the day care and had undergone a background check. An agent did not present a warrant when he entered the building, the school’s staff said.

October marked the 10th straight month of decline in the number of Canadian travellers to the US. Air travel from Canada to the US dropped nearly 24%, while car travel fell more than 30% when compared to the same period last year, according to data released this week by Canada's statistics office.
Overall, the US has seen a 3.2% drop in international spending in the country, driven primarily by fewer visitors from Canada, according to the US Travel Association, a nonprofit group representing the American travel industry.
As relations between the two countries remain icy, mostly in response to new tariffs Trump has imposed, Canadians are apparently committed to giving their southern neighbours the cold shoulder.
In the past, Canadians have made up about a quarter of all international visitors to the US, spending over $20bn (£15.1bn) a year, according to the US Travel Association.
...
Still, with Canadians choosing to travel closer to home, the country's own tourism industry has gotten a boost. Canada's tourism sector made a record-breaking C$59bn from May to August of 2025, up 6% from the same period last year, mostly because of people choosing to travel domestically, according to Destination Canada, a national tourism organisation.
Some of those choosing to stay home are Canadian snowbirds, retirees who travel south to states like Florida to find warmth in the winter months. A survey from the Travel Health Insurance Association of Canada found these baby boomers were staying home more than other age groups, with only 10% planning US trips for this year, down 66% compared to last year.

Does the US government not understand that the parents of Jesus Christ were refugees, at Christmas time?

If He goes back voluntarily, we'll give Him a $1000 bucks and He can have the opportunity to return through legal means.

https://www.pennlive.com/news/2025/1...s-answers.htmlThe brother of the Chinese man who was found dead, hanging in a shower stall at a Pennsylvania ICE detention center expressed deep sorrow at the loss.
“I am devastated by the loss of my brother and by the knowledge that he was suffering so greatly in that detention center,” said Yanfeng Ge during an outdoor press conference held in Manhattan on Wednesday. “He did not deserve to be treated that way.”
On Aug. 5, Chaofeng Ge was found unresponsive in a shower stall at the ICE Moshannon Valley Processing Center in Clearfield County. He was pronounced dead soon after.
Yanfeng Ge has filed a lawsuit against Immigration and Customs Enforcement, seeking information on the cir stances surrounding his brother’s death. The lawsuit, filed in the Southern District of New York, also names the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which has oversight over ICE.
Chaofeng Ge, 32, was found hanging by his neck with his hands and legs tied behind his back when Moshannon staff found him, five days after he had entered the detention center.
ICE needs to check the immigration status of the brother
