electing fascists has consequences.
when it celebrates by sending the military police to universities remove materials it finds ideologically offensive and harass outspoken professors, yeah, it is bad.
electing fascists has consequences.
it's pretty bad. he will name as his staff and ministers mostly military generals/ex generals
its going to look more like a Junta than a government
Looks like he will also form an alliance with Trump that will split entire American continent from north to south. US military bases in the Amazon, sure. Venezuela is the crown jewel to be had by both Trump and Jair. Brazil also borders with both Venezuela and Bolivia, the last 2 remaning bastions of leftism/socialism. would not surprise me if they go after bolivia first.
you believe that ? clearly there are many things i know nothing about.
there have been extra-judicial executions by police in the favelas, barrios, or whatever the the word is, and they will most probably accelerate.
Trump can barely take a and you think he's capable of a takeover?
This dude better have ultra protection. He got knifed pretty damn easily. People are gonna be gunning for him fairly soon.
The takeover already happened: November 2016
Thats the sqme thing that was said about Trump. That he wouldnt lastThis dude better have ultra protection. He got knifed pretty damn easily. People are gonna be gunning for him fairly soon.
Chances are this BolsoHitler clown is hoing to become uber powerful. Mainly dueto his military connects
It wil be interesting to see if he goes further than Trump and starts jailing his political enemies. He already said hes gonna go full Duterte and encourage his cops to kill bums.
Fears for Amazon and Indigenous Peoples with Bolsonaro's Victory
A major report this month highlighted the vital role forests must play in limiting the impact of greenhouse gas emissions
as well as the crucial role of indigenous people in forest upkeep.
Environmentalists and rights groups reacted with dismay Monday to the victory in Brazil of president-elect Jair Bolsonaro, a far-right champion of agribusiness who has threatened to pull his country from the Paris climate accord.

TOP BRAZILIAN SCIENTISTS FLEE BOLSONARO’S CUTS ... AND HEAD TO THE US
Latin America’s largest economy and most populous nation is grappling with an intellectual exodus propelled by far-right President Jair Bolsonaro’s funding freezes in higher education and research.
Since it took office in January, Brazil’s new government has
stalled the release of 8 billion reals ($2 billion) from education, science and technology budgets as part of austerity measures,
leaving research projects in limbo and thousands of researchers without research scholarships.
Bolsonaro, a critic of the Paris climate agreement, has proposed
opening up the Amazon rainforests for mining,
while his foreign minister has described climate change as a “Marxist plot.”
Now, the country’s researchers and highly educated intellectuals are responding — by fleeing the nation in record numbers.
In April, the number of U.S. visas granted to Brazilians for extraordinary ability, or those with higher-level degrees, soared to 159 percent over 2018 and 408 percent over 2017.
Numbers of those leaving for Europe are harder to track because many Brazilian academics and researchers have dual citizenships in European countries and so don’t need visas.
“Human knowledge is science’s most valuable asset,” says Roque da Silva. “These aren’t abilities and skills that are easily replaced.”
More than a million Brazilians in all have made lives elsewhere in the world since the start of the country’s political and economic crisis six years ago.
it is driving off Brazil’s top researchers faster than ever before, even those who had no intention at all to leave.
“This was never a life plan for me,” says Silva. “I never wanted to leave.”

https://edition.cnn.com/2025/11/22/a...-arrested-intlBrazil’s ex-president Bolsonaro arrested to prevent ‘attempted escape,’ court says
Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was detained on Saturday at his residence in Brazil’s capital to prevent a possible “attempted escape,” days before he was due to begin a prison sentence for leading a coup attempt, according to Brazil’s Supreme Court.
In a statement, Federal Police said it executed a preventive arrest warrant that had been requested by the police themselves and authorized by the Supreme Court, CNN affiliate CNN Brasil reported. He was arrested at his home in Brasília.
Sources told CNN Brasil that a vigil organized by Bolsonaro’s oldest son, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, in front of the complex of residential buildings where the former president lives triggered the request for preventive detention.

I'm surprised Trump hasn't raised taxes on US importers of Brazilian products yet
Brazil is a somewhat self-respecting democracy; we're not
Look at France, they prosecute leaders and ex-leaders all the time
Game not over
Electoral victories are ephemeral, history has not yet concluded
Not in Brazil, not in the USA
oh
coffee and orange juice
stymied by the American breakfast affordability

in the context of shrinking US herds and domestically desirable beef affordability, Brazilian beef would seem to be desirable too
https://investigatemidwest.org/2025/...domestic-herd/Despite new tariffs and ongoing trade negotiations, US beef imports from Brazil hit a record 197 million pounds in January 2025, up from 7 million in January 2020. JBS, the world’s largest meat company, helped power the surge as the US herd shrank.

(maybe Trump will retaliate directly on the involved judges)
(sanction them or something. Trump recently did this to a French ICC judge)
effective debanked internationally, including by credit card companies

Under the sanctions, he will be refused entry to the United States and any assets he has in the world’s largest economy will be blocked – measures more often taken against US adversaries than citizens of friendly nations.
should Trump survive his own presidency -- for myself, I hope Trump does -- hopefully his future looks like this too
