If only someone could have warned people that trump was no different than hitler…

because that would have been accurate and every sane person would have disassociated and stopped supporting hitler-lite…

unless they actually had no problem with hitler…

but what kind of broken people would have cheered for hitler?

    oh…oh yeah..no..wait!

It's no coincidence this "protest" gained a violent flavor on the day Tim Walz crimes were revealed in committee. It's also no coincidence that ICE operations are experiencing the most violent resistance in Minnesota when, in fact, similar operations are taking place in many other places in the United States.
I wonder if it's realistic to compare the federal occupations of LA, Chicago and Minneapolis to other operations.

The more reckless and violent DHS is, the more resistance they get.

I would disagree that the resistance so far has been characterized by violent tactics, very nearly the opposite appears to be true -- the tactics are overwhelmingly non-violent.

Whistles and cellphones and human observers, mostly.

You don't have to take my word for it, exactly how many cases of assault has DOJ successfully prosecuted for DHS since they went on a rampage?

In Chicago, the tally of successful prosecutions is zero so far, out of 15 iirc

In LA, DOJ's record of successful prosecutions related to DHS has been piss-poor, in the low single integers, I think

Federal prosecutors have lost yet another immigration protest related trial in the Central District of California. This is the sixth trial that’s ended in an acquittal. By my count, they have yet to secure a guilty verdict from a jury.

Feds had charged Isaias Lopez w/ assault on a federal officer.
Five of the six cases were charged as assault on a federal officer.

One of the cases was charged as theft of government property, after a man towed an ICE vehicle during an immigration arrest.

My working hypothesis is that DOJ's dismal track record prosecuting assault on officers has led DHS to deemphasize prosecution. Charges can still be laid to smear select targets (like say, people DHS shoots in the face or in the back.)

DHS can beat up and detain administratively whoever it wants without as many legal headaches and juries nope-ing out if they don't take people to court

    Pure official oppression

Lemon was taken into custody by federal agents in Los Angeles, where had been covering the Grammy Awards, his attorney Abbe Lowell said.

It is unclear what charge or charges Lemon is facing in the Jan. 18 protest. The arrest came after a magistrate judge last weekrejected prosecutors’ initial bid to charge the journalist.

Lemon, who was fired from CNN in 2023, has said he has no affiliation to the organization that went into the church and that he was there as a journalist chronicling protesters.

Well, this is good news. And, although I thought he should have been arrested with the others facing prosecution in this case, the reason he's now being arrested, evidence has surfaced that he colluded with protestors to do exactly what they did.

I agree that Trump probably doesn't know what he supports.

Just doing what his algorithm commands -- which in this case is running over people in the street.

Minnesota Just Agreed to a Major Concession to the Trump Administration on Immigration Enforcement

White House border czar Tom Homan announced on Thursday that Minnesota county jails will begin sharing information with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) when they are scheduled to release illegal immigrants who have criminal backgrounds.
During a press conference, Homan explained that Attorney General Keith Ellison "has clarified for me that county jails may notify ICE of the release dates of criminal public safety risks so I can take custody upon the release from the jail."

This announcement marks a significant shift in the state's approach to working with federal immigration authorities. Previously, they refused to allow local law enforcement to collaborate with ICE and Border Patrol to apprehend and remove illegal immigrants -- even those who committed violent crimes.

Homan said the Minnesota Department of Corrections has consistently honored ICE detainers and stressed that any reduction in the number of federal agents in Minnesota would be contingent on continued cooperation from state and local officials.

"As we see cooperation happen, then the redeployment will happen," he said.

Looks like the Seattle Mayor is looking for a dose of Homan next. I'm not Cons utional expert but, what she's proposing sounds pretty illegal.

This is why you're an idiot, yoni.

I shared with [Homan] the existing state law that requires state and local authorities to share information with federal immigration authorities regarding non-citizens convicted of felonies. I also explained that county sheriffs, not the attorney general, run county jails and are also covered by the same state law. I did not make, and could not have made, any agreement with him about how sheriffs share with ICE information about people in their county jails.

I also reiterated that in Minnesota, it is against the law to hold an incarcerated person solely on an ICE detainer if there is no other legal reason to hold them, a fact I clarified in a legal opinion nearly one year ago. This is a fact that county sheriffs and chiefs of police recognize and accept and Mr. Homan did not dispute. I further pointed out that the federal government’s debunked claims about a supposed lack of cooperation from local sheriffs and the state prison system in honoring ICE detainers have further eroded trust in the federal government among members of state and local law enforcement.
