Pizzagate guy pulls a gun on police during a traffic stop, and dies.
Police released details Thursday morning on a Jan. 4 incident in which a police officer shot a suspect who reportedly pulled a gun on the officer. The suspect died two days later in the hospital.
According to police, a Kannapolis officer was patrolling North Cannon Boulevard about 10 p.m. when he saw a gray 2001 GMC Yukon being driven by a person the officer knew had an outstanding arrest warrant. The officer stopped the car, and while talking with the driver, recognized that the passenger was also someone with an outstanding warrant.
Two additional Kannapolis police officers arrived to help with the stop, and the original officer went around to the passenger side of the car and opened the door to arrest Edgar Maddison Welch of Salisbury.
When the officer opened the door, Welch pulled a handgun from his jacket and pointed it in the direction of the officer. That officer and a second officer who was standing at the rear passenger side of the Yukon gave commands for Welch to drop the gun. When he refused, both officers fired their duty weapon at Welch, striking him. Medical assistance was immediately summoned for Welch, and he was transported to Atrium Health Cabarrus for care and treatment. He was later taken to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where he died on Jan. 6.

This was not the first time Welch had interactions with police. He pleaded guilty in March of 2017 to federal charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and transporting a firearm over state lines in the incident that has come to be known as “Pizzagate.”

"a very small endeavor"
lol the begging
"We're always there for NATO. We're helping them with Ukraine. It's got an ocean in between us. It doesn't affect us, but we've helped them. It would be interesting to see what country wouldn't help us with a very small endeavor, which is just keeping the Strait open."
Trump won all swing states and popular vote as a 34 count convicted felon....the democrat party couldnt even beat that.
apparently no one wants to help
https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...japan-no-shipsAustralia maintains it has not received any formal requests to send warships to the strait.
“We won’t be sending a ship to the strait of Hormuz,” transport minister Catherine King told the national broadcaster. “We know how incredibly important that is but that’s not something we’ve been asked or we’re contributing to.”
The conservative Coalition opposition was also cautious about Australia’s involvement.
“If [a request from the US] came, we’d have to very carefully consider it against our national interest and particularly whether we have the relevant naval vessels available that could safely do that mission,” defence shadow minister, James Paterson, told Channel Nine’s Today show.
it's not 2024 anymore -- you're living in the past
Do you even know where you are, geezer?
You're just admitting Trump is the worst president ever.
GERMAN DEFENCE MINISTER PISTORIUS: WHAT DOES TRUMP EXPECT FROM A HANDFUL OF EUROPEAN FRIGATES THAT THE POWERFUL US NAVY CANNOT DO? THIS IS NOT OUR WAR, WE HAVE NOT STARTED IT
UK PM STARMER: STRAIT OF HORMUZ WON'T BE A NATO MISSION
Stock market gonna plunge this morning
Just a reminder that the Washington Treaty defines the geography of NATO’s mutual defense pledge — at U.S. insistence in 1949 — to prevent allies from committing us to their wars outside of Europe.
Trump told reporters that the administration had reached out to seven nations for help policing the strait, but declined to say whether any had agreed to assist..

Trump bullying and threatening US allies for a year has maybe conditioned their willingness to help out now
It's odd Trump didn't try get to other countries on board before attacking Iran
https://www.theguardian.com/politics...-minister-saysAsked if he believed Trump might reduce support for Nato if other members did not do as he demanded with Iran, McFadden told Sky News: “Well, that’s the president right there. The quote that you’ve just given has summed him up.
“It’s a very transactional presidency, and our job is to navigate this, to always remember that the friendship between the United States and the United Kingdom runs very deep. It’s a good relationship. It’s enduring, and I think it will outlast all the personalities involved.”
Rather than sending ships, the UK is instead drawing up plans to send minesweeping drones to the strait of Hormuz, amid concerns that complying with Trump’s demand could escalate the crisis.
Asked about this, McFadden said: “The honest answer is – these things will be discussed between the prime minister and the president, and I can’t give you a list of equipment at the moment that we would send, but the position that we’ve taken more broadly in the war, as I said, is we’ve not sought to be a protagonist in this.”
Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi says her country has no plans to send ships to the Gulf, despite Trump's demands, according to Reuters

https://www.cnbc.com/2026/03/09/chin...ransition.htmlWhy China can withstand oil’s surge past $100 more easily than other countries
BEIJING — Surging oil prices following the Iran war are expected to impact China less than in past years as the country has built large crude stockpiles and diversified its energy sources, including renewables.
As oil prices climbed past $100 a barrel for the first time in four years, OCBC analysts said China may be “less sensitive to a prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz than many of its Asian peers.”
“China has ac ulated one of the world’s largest strategic and commercial crude reserves,” the analysts said, adding that its “rapid transition toward electric vehicles and renewable energy provides an additional structural hedge.”
China held an estimated 1.2 billion barrels of onshore crude stockpiles as of January.
That’s about 3 to 4 months of reserves, which will delay the economic impact, Rush Doshi, director of the China Strategy Initiative at the Council on Foreign Relations, said Monday on CNBC’s “Squawk Box Asia.”
..
China’s electric vehicle push, especially in trucks, has already displaced over 1 million barrels per day of implied oil demand, Rhodium Group said in July 2025.
The research firm expected that figure to rise by around 600,000 barrels per day over the following 12 months.
More than half of China’s new passenger vehicles sold are now new-energy vehicles, meaning they rely more on batteries than on gasoline.
“With road fuel demand already showing signs of peaking and renewable capacity expanding rapidly, China’s sensitivity to oil price fluctuations is declining on a [year-on-year] basis,” the OCBC analysts said.
“Over time, the electrification of transportation and the expansion of renewable power generation will further insulate the economy from oil-related shocks.”
Oil and natural gas only account for 4% of China’s power mix, far lower than the 40% to 50% share seen in many Asian economies, the analysts said.
