With so many idiot drivers around, I'd be afraid to drive one of those. I just don't see those as being too safe in the US.
I wouldn't be embarassed to be this guy:
The only downside is not living past any collision.

I don't think they're safe anywhere.
I would be petrified to drive that car. My friend drove a Geo Metro many years ago and I refused to get in it....I have no desire to die from a fender-bender.

Driving around the beach? But even then you'd have to worry about colliding with someone like T Pork while he sunbathes, which wouldn't be pretty before or after the collision for either of you.![]()
sorry, i would just prefer not to pay $40 for 3/4 tank of gas driving my 95 blazer around. i get 18 mpg driving 90% highway, that's lame. personally, i think the switching to 4 cylinders on the highway is a lame compromise by the big US motor makers, just like ford moving away from producing hybrids to focus on ethanol cars. is there really any reason to mass produce v8 engines anymore, especially with oil prices continually on the rise? from what i can tell, you got a tahoe because you're lazy, getting a car seat and stroller out of a mazda 3 with no hatchback is easy, and i'm 6'2".![]()
I got a Tahoe cause I'm lazy..........
No, because I can afford one, I liked the styling, and I wanted MORE vehicle for my money. And I wanted something that I could haul everyone in when I go on vacation to the coast, etc. And I'm sure my kid enjoys the fact that I can take his power wheels, tricycle and pool with us when we go to the park.![]()
Same car (Mercedes Smart car) in a crash test head on into a wall.

being able to afford one is another reason, i can't. i have just had an SUV since i graduated from high school and really wouldn't care to get another - the 5-10 thousand dollar depreciation that occurs when you drive it off the lot is depressing, and to me the mpg is depressing too. since my family consists of me, my gf, my daughter and our dog the need isn't really there either. for me, at least, the space would be nice but not worth the overall cost.
So thats where the hate comes from.![]()
nah, not really. i don't hate SUVs, i have always had one. i just think it's absurd they are still being mass produced. most people you see driving them around don't really need them. my family always had a suburban or SUV when i was growing up. don't get me wrong, the best thing about them to me at least is knowing if there is an accident you will be ok. i just can't justify the cost of gas, and the absurd cost of new SUVs anymore. i would consider a hybrid SUV, they get pretty good mileage. the argument is no more absurd than buying one just because you can afford one.![]()
that one does look girly. it's pink.
do those tires require air?
The Fusion is a badass car. It's far from a chick car.
A Mustang is more of a chick car than a Fusion.
Will it come with shaved door handles like that??
The funnest thing I love about my XTerra and it's big ol'tires ... unlike my Grand Am and it's low profile tires ... I can hit a ing pot hole without having to replace and/or repair an $800 rim.![]()

selective amnesia, huh? remember? I need something bigger than a Mazda Hatchback when I want to take a road trip. And I feel better about my kid being in a bigger vehicle surrounded with curtain airbags.
A V-6 Mustang is more of a chick car than a Fusion.
A V-8 Mustang is very manly.
it wasn't selective amnesia, i wasn't even saying that's the only reason you got one, or even that it was the main reason. a lot of people buy them because they can. btw, curtain airbags don't necessarily offer children extra protection. most children are too short to be offered much protection by them - you need to be around 5 feet tall to receive protection from the curtain airbag.
