Can the Lakers win on any given night against those teams? Sure. 4/7? No.

I think that's the real question. As for the Lakers weakness it is at the point guard position. And IMO that is the most important position (that and center). That's why I'm not convinced that they will come out of the West. But we do matchup very well with Phoenix and San Antonio. I like our chances against them if we do meet in the second round.

Of course that depends on what one considers "locking down", but Brown is easily one of the best post defenders in the NBA and can probably hold Duncan well below 50% shooting if he can stay on the floor.

That statement is similar to penciling in Bruce Bowen as slowing down Kobe Bryant ... the difference is that Brown has a more consistent impact on the defensive end than Bowen does.

Agreed, I took that to mean Kwame could guard Duncan one on one. Not that he could stop him, but slow him down.

You cant dog on Laker fans for also believing that we have the greatest franchise in NBA history and one of the best in overall sports. While this trend can exceed alot, we have high expectations of our team just like spurs/suns/mavs fans do.

Other than the grammar and questionable command of English vocabulary, I can't say that any of that is "ridiculous".

The Lakers are as good as any team in the NBA, and certainly have matchup advantages against any team, even the (relatively mediocre) Big Three.

Except the following ....

in all.....I believe Dallas, PHX and UTAH have the best chances to upset us. But i don't see it happening if our guys are healthy... Lemme know what you guys think..

I wouldn't call Dallas, Pheonix and Utah beating the Lakers in a 7 game series an "upset", it's more the other way around.

I believe the Lakers are one of 5 legit contenders to the NBA championship (Mavs, Suns, Spurs and Pistons being the other four, and the Heat has to play a LOT better than they do now to be called contenders), but I wouldn't exactly call them the favourites in any of the series vs. the other four contenders.
