Fantastic. And, no, I can't verify his credentialsIf you think he's more credible than the entire Bush administration, that's fine. You're the guy who made up the invasion plan, not me.In any case, he's certainly more convincing that Chumpy.
...reporting that we plan to attack Iran?
Anyway, I wanted to use this opportunity to get back to a discussion Chumpy and I were having about whether or not there was a plan to invade Afghanistan.
In response to the BBC's report today, Spook 86 over at "In From the Cold," had this to say:
What the Beeb Doesn't Tell You
so, you tell me, how likely was it that we had no plans to invade Afghanistan?
Spook 86 is the pseudonym for a former member of the U.S. intelligence community. During a 20-year career in military intelligence, he served as an analyst, operations planner, flight commander, briefer, nuclear targeteer and aircrew member among other positions. Now retired, he maintains extensive contacts within the U.S. intelligence community. Views expressed are his own, and not necessarily those of the U.S. Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, Starfleet Command, the Korean Central News Agency, The Weekly World News, the guy across the street, or anyone else. So there!
And, no, I can't verify his credentials but, he's often referred to by other bloggers who have identified themselves and have vouched for his credentials. In any case, he's certainly more convincing that Chumpy.

Seeing as there was no reason to launch a full-scale invasion of Afghanistan before 9/11, highly likely.so, you tell me, how likely was it that we had no plans to invade Afghanistan?
Again, I have to ask -- why didn't all your CIA blog buddies their pants when Woodward came out with Bush at War five years ago? Sure there would be a blogosphere's worth of protest over such a fundamental error.
Probably because Woodward, like John Edwads, channels dead people and isn't really taken that seriously.
Nah, the new SecDef refuted that bull .
And of course you can tell me the name of the Op Plan for the invasion of Afghanistan that had been sitting around the Pentagon for decades since Afghanistan was always of the greatest strategic import.
I gave you the one for Iraq -- did your best blog buddies give you the one for Afghanistan?
Obviously, you didn't read the post Master Baiter.
Obviously, you don't know whose plan was used in Afghanistan.
Nope, I don't. But, I'm confident there was a plan...as described by Spook.
It was the CIA's plan. Maybe if you got your head out of your ass you would know that.Nope, I don't.Your best buddy described Iran. But, I'm confident there was a plan...as described by Spook.
Get back to me with that Op Plan number. It should be as easy to find as the one for Iraq.
Kinda late to the party fellas, but Chump, do I understand correctly that you think that going into Afghanistan was done on the fly with no prior planning?
Granted, old plans were probably dusted off and retro fitted, but how do you account for a group of Rangers seizing a key airfield, or refitting the Kitty Hawk to run not airstrikes, but special operations off its decks?
Tell you what we didn't have a plan for, and that was what to do post-taliban. I'll never forget Rumsfeld in a presser after the taliban were run out stating in no uncertain terms that we weren't into "nation rebuilding". He ed that one up.
The Pentagon had no plan. The CIA did. The CIA plan was used as the basis for the invasion.Kinda late to the party fellas, but Chump, do I understand correctly that you think that going into Afghanistan was done on the fly with no prior planning?
Really guys, read Bush at War.That and we didn't bribe the border tribes enough money to keep Osama from escaping.Tell you what we didn't have a plan for, and that was what to do post-taliban.
