Well considering we've won the ship 3 of the last 5 years, I don't think this should come as a surprise. Which is to say it means nothing

It means the Spurs should be favored by the oddsmakers and the media, which they're not.

Then make some money with a bet while the odds are in your favor.

Superb, impressive stats from recent history.

The Spurs' playoff domination is incredible.

Just to complete the analysis, here are the records of the other Western Conference teams (those who did not qualify for the 2008 playoffs) in the past 5 playoff seasons:

    LA Clippers -- 7-5
    Seattle -- 6-5
    Minnesota -- 12-12
    Sacramento -- 17-18
    Golden State -- 5-6
    Portland -- 3-4
    Memphis -- 0-12

Those teams are a combined 50-62, making the rest of the West a combined 154-182 over the last 5 seasons.

Don't forget that the Spurs were probably just a bull .4 shot with a late clock and a monumentally stupid foul by Ginobili from winning 5 NBA les in a row...THE SPURS WILL NOT BE DENIED #5 in 2008!!!

Okay, I'll put my own negative spin on it, just to play devil's advocate. Those stats are history. The Suns aren't going to roll over because the Spurs kick ass on average. This is going to be a tough series.

Absolutely agree. By Galileo's logic, the oddsmakers were completely wrong to not install the 1999 Chicago Bulls as the odds-on favorites to win that year's le. It's a drastic example, but it makes the point.

The Spurs won't win a series because they've been good in the past -- that's irrelevant. That they've been able to win games in the past -- that they have the attributes of teams that have won playoff games -- might help them win this year. But ultimately, all of the past is of no moment when the ball goes up on Saturday afternoon, Tuesday night, Friday night, the following Sunday afternoon, and in every game after that.
