That dude wants to marry Tim and have his babies.

This is the thread where you give props to the greatest power forward of all time in the core of his element - the PLAYOFFS.
This was not Tim's greatest regular season. At times he was dominant - he had a great rodeo road trip, and some 5-8 game stretches, particularly against lesser teams, where he dominated on offense or on D, but rarely put the two together. He coasted for stretches, and sometimes played without the smarts we have come to appreciate from him. Tim was also plagued by a dearth of foul calls compared to the rest of his career which clearly put him off his game at times.
That was the regular season. Now, it's the playoffs, and today Tim Duncan showed the world why he is the greatest compe or of the post-Jordan NBA. In maybe the best first game of the first round of the playoffs in NBA history, Tim controlled crunch-time with indomitable will.
Specifically, from the 6 minute mark of the 4th quarter, when the game was on the line, Tim dominated every aspect of the game. On offense, he showed his entire repertoire - low post, drive, put-back, jumpshot, smart pass. He set impeccable screens. He played rugged, intelligent defense. His decision-making was unimpeachable. We witnessed a virtuoso performance reminiscent of Michael Jordan in that Tim demonstrated steel will and veins of ice in making play after incredible play to carry the team to victory. Tim singlehandedly broke Phoenix today - this was Tim Duncan, PLAYOFF WARRIOR.
PS This thread is dedicated to duncan228, the most tireless supporter of everything Duncan. Her commitment to him never wavers, and for that she is to be lauded.

228 is not a dude, dude. She's a 'her'.![]()
Besides beating the Suns, Tim also silenced critics of him who say he's no longer dominant.
I don't have enough time to list everything great about Tim's game.
But I will say something that will make you happy Ruff.
The left hand hook is back, es!
Damn straight, MI21. The lefty hook late in the fourth brought a big smile to my face.
I think, after a slow start in Nov-Dec, he's used his left more this season than in any since 2003. And all I have to say about that is eeeexcellent!
While I agree that Duncan is a beast and extremely dominant still, would a thread like this have been started if Duncan's 3 would have bounced off the rim and ended the game? I tend to think not, but instead some thread's about a terrible play call by Pop, and a guy who should have never been shooting there missing. This is how it is, I understand, but how quickly some things can be overlooked.
Thus the wink at the end of my post.![]()
The funniest part of Timmy's game is that people are surprised by it.
It's Tim ing Duncan.
Spider, shut the up and go cry somewhere else. Woulda coulda shoulda gunna...
The fact is that Duncan once again demonstrated why he is one of the greatest compe ors the NBA has ever seen. He made play after play after play down the stretch to take the game out of the Suns' hands. This game goes in the pantheon of all-time Duncan clutch games along with Lakers game 6 and Nets game 6 in 2003, and Pistons game 7 in 2005 (just off the top of my head).
By no means is the series settled, it was game one. That is not what this thread is about. This thread is about recognising Tim for the greatness that he embodies and that so few NBA fans ever acknowledge. On this night, if you don't recognise just how amazing a player Duncan has been either you have no clue about basketball greatness or you are just a bitter fool. Take your pick and stop whining.
Oh, twas a wink! I thought it was just a smile and missed your joke. My bad, carry on!![]()
Ruff, beautiful take, my friend. And I appreciate your articulation, unlike so many pointless, aimless, rambling, mispunctuated threads which pop up here by trolls.
And mighty props to Tim Duncan!!![]()
If you couldn't start threads about terrible play calls, there would be no Suns boards.
That's the Tim Duncan I've been waiting to see all year. He better have that game face on every single game though. The Spurs can't afford to have him come out passive or timid in any game of this series.
Ok, Ive tried but my pc wont do it, who can put a photo of Timmys face after he sunk the three next to the pic from the King dude in the movie "300" when he yells "This is Sparta!"? Its the same facial expression!
Not me, i have been saying all along come playoff time as long as he is healthy he is going to dominate. Too many on this board lose faith based on some reg season games. Duncan has been brilliant in the playoffs every year of his career, no need to feel this year would be different.
if we had a sportsmanship award on this board... duncan228 would win it and the name should be changed to sportsgirlship award![]()
Thanks Ruff, I'm touched.
It's been an interesting season to be a Duncan fan, to say the least. He paced himself more than he ever has this year, and I think that made it easy for people to think he was "done." I knew he wasn't. I knew he would rise when it mattered (unless he was hurt, and I must admit even I was starting to wonder if he was).
It's a privilege to watch him. He is the most incredible player I've ever seen, and I started watching the NBA in Larry Bird's rookie season. I've seen a lot of the big boys in this game but no one ever caught me the way Duncan has.
He is simply amazing, on and off the court.
I never lose faith in him, no matter how off his game may get. I think he's got at least a couple more Championships in him. I want to see him repeat, I want to see him raise another Final's MVP.
I appreciate SpursTalk's patience with me, I know I'm pretty much a one subject fan. It's nice to have someplace to share my admiration of him.
And much to contrary belief, I don't want to marry him or have his babies.
I'm quite content to watch him from a distance. I've never seen him play in person, I would like to do that. Maybe get an autograph. (Assuming I could speak if I actually got face to face with him.)
He was unreal yesterday, what an incredible performance. I'm still catching my breath from it. But I think it's just a preview of what we're going to see this post-season. I'm not saying he'll put up 40 every game, or hit clutch three's. But he wants the repeat, and this is the best chance he's had. He will carry this team, his fire will spread through them. It's going to be a joy to watch.
My commitment to him will never waver. I believe in him. I always have, and I always will.
Oh, there was one more thing I wanted to say...

Oh I meant, CoTD? Lol, we should be more specific whether it's TP or TD.
oooh Sun burned!!!
I hear it's "Temple of Duncan."![]()
Yes TD is the Man, the Legend, the Myth in real life.
