"Mr. Rawles said it is hard to know how much of the shortages are due to lagging supply and how much is caused by consumers hedging against future price hikes or a total lack of product."

Yeah...since the article makes no claims on the cause and can only speculate, blame it on Bush. Beats critical thinking.

Yeah, it was W. who brought us the bright idea of ethanol fuel and came up with the subsidies for our farmers. Try again, numbnuts.

And to top it all off, you think Obama's socialist and fascist policy ideas are the answers. Really, I'm looking forward to standing in line for toilet paper if he gets elected to the Oval Office.

"who brought us the bright idea of ethanol fuel"

dubya didn't bring any "idea". He's pumping $50B subsidies into ethanol which is horrible, counter-productive "idea", except for those receiving the "socialistic/corporate welfare" subsidies. Wonderfully, corn farmers, even with corn prices at historic highs, are switching to soy beans because the prices are even higher.

EVERYTHING dubya has touched has turn to stinkin .

You're right on about the subsidies. Corn is not the answer...it's just an ez way to Ethanol but it's horribly inefficient.

BTW...your congressmen/congresswomen have more to do with the subsidy issue than Bush.

Not defending Bush...he's in waay over his head.
But c'mon...at least try to be accurate.

i don't this is government mandated food rationing. people that blame bush for everything are funny. i hope they all have their "i heart michael moore" shirt in the mail. the main problem is all these global warming/environmentalist yahoos that every elected official is trying please these days. just look at our wheat futures. we're actually going to have start importing wheat. importing wheat!!! i can't wait for the china lead-laced wheat variety. i wonder if that UG99 fungus will cooperate with that whole dealing. oh im sorry. let me channel boutons "thinking". i hope the bush administration shows pity on the world and doesnt release the UG99 fungus to all wheat fields.

    God help us all

You're really a dumbass. Congress is the one who came up with the ridiculous subsidies for ethanol. About the only fault of Bush's is not vetoing it, but then again people on both sides of the aisle got the kickbacks from the agricultural lobby, so everyone (in D.C.) won. The rest of us just got ed over.

But don't let that get in the way of your bigoted Bush bashing. You really are a stupid son of a .

Ok, now that was accurate. Bush could have done more to fight against stupid spending, but for some reason his energies were directed elsewhere...

Nobody forced dubya to sign the insane bill subsidizing corn ethanol. He could have lead and vetoed it, but the corps would have been furious.

Just amazing and humrous how dubya escapes all accountability for the that happens on his watch.

What insane bill was that? Alot of these handouts are enacted as amendments to bills and earmarks. Dude, these subsidies started in 1978. As evil as you think Bush to be, he did not build a time-machine and go back to 78 to start this ball rolling.
Again, please try just a little critical thinking. It's good for you.

    Enjoy the extra chormosone.

dude. he was already crapped on for not signing that joke, the kyoto treaty. i think he was just trying to make up for it. he might as well have signed the kyoto. you know the same kyoto treaty that gore, back in the day, said wasn't worth anything.

Where did W. escape any accountability? Did you even read what I wrote, or are you just going to get your panties in a bunch because the facts got in the way of your Bush hating.

Yeah, Bush signed the bill that gave us the ethanol mandate, but Congress is the one who authored and passed it, and that includes your precious little Obama.

In fact, he was one of the ones pushing for the bill and threw in a couple of amendments to it.

    Ho ho ho...

    http://obama.senate.gov/press/050729...y_bill_helps_/

He even threw in some pork to hook up a couple of universities in his state with research money on ethanol. Yay!

Apparently, the world food crisis is actually bothering the USA

    http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline...an-retail.html

Has anybody heard how dubya's Exec has been preparing for this predicted, foreseeable food crisis, and are ready to step forward as Leader of the World and work with other countries to save 100s of millions of lives. Didn't think so.

Watch the repleateady lying, incompetent Repug bas s in the Exec step up to plate and bat themselves in the balls again.
