In general, the African-American players are better athletes than the white American players.

They refused to acknowledge Madonna as their ruler.

I don't even know why that's funny. It just is.

    "White" is not a race.

WGAF what colour a person is anyway? Skin colour is related to one gene - melanin production. Colour is irrelevant.

    Stupid thread.

Black people are more talented athletically.

I see white guys as good shooters and good point guards/quarterbacks.

Did you know that people of African descent have a very large diversity of mitochondrial DNA and the rest of the world has very little? This goes back to Africa as the cradle of humanity, and that a small group (with few females) left there and spread widely over the other continents. Race isn't JUST about skin color or melanin production.

    My two cents:

Race is not a concept that can be used on humans. Humans are a specie. The concept of race is a social construct, it is arbitrary, imprecise and has many variations and exceptions.

In biology, the term "race" is rarely used because it is ambigous. The term is used colloquially to refer to human groupings. Suposedly, they are used to classify people according to visible traits, but other characteristics are used, such as culture, society, religion, ethnic, linguistic, regional and national traits.

The concept of race is a social and cultural construction, race simply cannot be tested or proven scientifically.

"many social scientists have replaced the word race with the word "ethnicity" to refer to self-identifying groups based on beliefs concerning shared culture, ancestry and history. Alongside empirical and conceptual problems with "race," following the Second World War, evolutionary and social scientists were acutely aware of how beliefs about race had been used to justify discrimination, apartheid, slavery, and genocide. This questioning gained momentum in the 1960s during the U.S. civil rights movement and the emergence of numerous anti-colonial movements worldwide. They thus came to understood that these justifications, even when expressed in language that sought to appear objective, were social constructs."

    Well said, Manu'sMagical.

I didn't say that race is just related to skin colour or melanin production - of course it isn't. You use the example of mitochondrial DNA, but there are also many other phenotype markers. 'Race' is a polygenic effect, and beyond that culture also influences 'race'. That was my point.

I said "skin colour is related to one gene", my point being why focus on someone's colour? Please read more closely in future.
