Sometimes people fall into a downward spiral of self-destructive behavior. When there are no barriers against that behavior (on account of being wealthy), and nobody willing to hold the person accountable, it can be really easy to suc b, even more so if the person doesn't hold any conviction that such behavior is wrong.

There can be a wrong understanding of self and self-love as well. Self-love is not reckless indulgence of one's passions. That just leads to self-slavery and destruction. To have true self-love, one must obtain a proper understanding of one's own value, and treat oneself accordingly
Love of others is not benign indulgence of their behavior, either. The people close to Winehouse aren't doing her any favors by letting her do this to herself. Hopefully there is somebody at that record label who actually cares about her as a human being, and not simply an economic asset to be protected.
Oh my. I certainly hope all the best for the poor woman.
