I think when don nelson was coach of the mavs they used to do that to duncan but I dont remember if duncan would make his free throws or not... anyone remember??
Duncan's FT% has been pretty good this season. I say go for it.
His worst month, by far, was April, at 67%. His best was February at 81%. The rest of the year he's been between 70% and 78%. That's pretty good for him.

lol I actually tried this on NBA 2k8. Trying to foul out all my players to see what happens. It resulted in...everyone can foul out as long as there are still 5 players left. The last 5 players would stay in the game regardless of the number of fouls because they were the last ones left on the team...idk how that works in real life though..
woah, if thats the case, the Spurs could start all the bench guys, foul them all out, and then leave the starters in and just bully the out of everyone!

This season Duncan is 73%FT and 49.7%FG. By those percentages, if you Hack-a-Tim, Tim scores 2 points 53.3% of the time, nearly 4% better than guarding him straight up.

Here are some of the changes over the years.
At the start of the 1953-54 SEASON, Each player was limited to two fouls per quarter; if he committed a third, he would have to be removed for the remainder of that quarter. The number of fouls decreased to 51 per game, but late-game free-throw shooting contests remained the rule.
On April 23, 1954, NBA officials vote to limit each team to 6 personal fouls per quarter, after which each foul results in an opposition free throw.
1954-55 it also mandates the awarding of a penalty foul shot after a team�s 5th personal foul in a period.
Don Otten's eight personal fouls in one game. The only way this can happen is for a team to be left with just five players after everyone has fouled out, which is not likely to happen anymore.
Jack Toomey, of the Baltimore Bullets, also had eight, in a playoff game on March 26, 1949. As a team, Baltimore commits a record 53 fouls. Eleven players foul out, including 6 Bullets.
Most personal fouls, game 8 - Don Otten, Tri-Cities at Sheboygan, November 24, 1949.
Alex Hannum, committed 7 fouls - Syracuse at Boston, December 26, 1950.
Cal Bowdler also committed 7 fouls on November 13, 1999, but that's another story.
In the NBA and WNBA, if a team is reduced to five players and one commits a sixth foul, that player must stay in the game; one additional free throw is awarded to the opposing team. Even if there are no free throws to be awarded because of an offensive foul, the one free throw will be added irrespective of offensive or defensive foul. A one-free throw penalty will also be awarded if said team has a player who must leave the game after being injured, and has no legal subs utes; the last player to foul out rejoins the game with the one free throw penalty. Thus, no team can be reduced to four players in those leagues.

I wouldn't be surprised to see "Hack a Bowen" to get him off Nash. I think it could be very effective in the 4th quarter.
I think that would work to the Suns advantage.
