He's so brutally honest, I love it.
'' Hey, at least the diamondbacks are off to a good start''
He's so brutally honest, I love it.
For such a depressing, dour face on the sidelines, he's really very relaxed and humorous, and clearly intelligent about the game, and the meta-game.
Van Gundy = best commentator ever
Phoenix needs to give up on the whole NBA thing...i dont really think it's meant for them.
WNBA needs some ratings boost
Despite being a little depressed right now, that actually cheered me up.![]()
JVG = next Spurs' assistant coach!
i wouldnt mind that. great insight for the game and good analysis.
jeff always tellin it like it is..
I wouldn't want JVG as a spur asst coach cause I wouldn't hear him talk anymore
They could do well in D-League.
JVG would not add anything to the spurs. He is a d-first guy, and he would be redundant with pop's strengths...
ESPN/ABC has two good broadcast teams - Breen / Van Gundy / Jackson and Tirico / Hubie. Hubie wasn't half as good with Al Michaels, which was entirely Michaels' fault. Obviously, the ESPN/ABC studio shows are total wastes of time.
Jeff is one of the only good parts of an ESPN broadcast.
Why was Sean Elliott there? I looked at the other channels to see if he was commentating I saw nothing.
when they were having a discussion over making a rule to prevent the use of "hack-a-shaq" early in the game, it cracked me up when he said something like "you do not legislate a rule for lack of skill."
As much as I like JVG, I hate Mark Jackson.
JVG will give each team equal time. Mark Jackson just flat out hates the Spurs, doesn't even try to hide it.
Best part of their broadcast, is when JVG calls out Jackson on a call.
Jackson..."That was clean block by Shaq on Ginobili."
JVG..."When is an elbow to the face a 'clean block?'"
JVG is ok.
Yeah, Mark Jackson is an idiot. It seems that he supports every blown call, and opposes every correct one.
And he defends it like its obvious! He probably doesn't even watch the replay! "the official made the right call" or "that was NOT a foul."
Idiot.
But JVG is fun to listen to.
Just like Bill Walton.
On that one play when Barbarosa punches ginobili Mark is like incidental contact and Van mocks him and says yeah incidental alright,
barkley needs to be a commentator as well
Jeff + Charles could make a Heat/Sonics preseason game feel like a game 7 playoff game
Staple Mark Jackson quotes:
"I'd take great offense over great defense any day!"
"Great acting job by Ginobili."
JVG keeps Marc Jackson's hyperbole-dropping ass in check. I also love how he's so blunt and intelligible about the game. He and Mike Breen are great. Marc Jackson can be a to listen to sometimes.
