First time it's been updated this season.

    The Playoffs

o to everyone. It's a very exciting time to be checking in. The NBA playoffs are here and everyone has been asking me about the three-pointer in game one against the Suns. That win was about teamwork. Let's get that out of the way right now. If my teammates had not put us in a position to win with big several big shots and defensive stops of their own, my shot would have been just another three-pointer.

Still, instead of responding to all the e-mails I've gotten about it, let me answer some of the things that people most seem to want to know about that shot. First, the play was not drawn up that way. I couldn't remember when the last three-pointer I shot took place prior to that one (except the one in the shootout at the All Star game), but I can assure you that we have guys on the team that can hit that with better accuracy. What happened was that Shaquille O'Neal left me to try to block Manu Ginobili's drive to the basket. I pulled back beyond the arc at that moment and somehow Manu saw me standing wide open. I don't have to tell you that he has amazing court vision. The fact that he hit me with an incredibly fast and accurate pass at that moment is incredible. He was flying to the basket, yet he swung that ball through the air, past the reach of our opponents and squarely into my hands. Still, the game was not over at that point. As I said earlier, winning in the playoffs is all about teamwork. Many of us have played together for some time and we spend all year getting ready for these types of moments in the playoffs.

And the rest...well, it's history. Just a lucky shot. Still, the game was not over at that point. As I said earlier, winning in the playoffs is all about teamwork. Many of us have played together for some time and we spend all year getting ready for these types of moments in the playoffs.

I for one hope that you can all come out and cheer us on as we continue to do battle with the best. It's an exciting time for us, but having your support gives us that extra edge.

    Thanks for sharing, duncan228.

Duncan says over and over that it is all about teamwork. He never takes or expects credit for anything. You've gotta love that about the guy. So unselfish. Too bad there aren't more like him in the league. And too bad everyone always overlooks him for everything that he is.

It's amazing how Timmy takes 2/3 of the paragraph to praise Manu for his own fantastic three pointer.

While Amare credits Duncan as the "King" of the Spurs Team, all Duncan cares about is only the win.

That makes me admire him even more.

Also congrats to the Spurs for this big win (I was able to watch this game broadcasted live.)

    Nice find.

Really got some genuine guys, they just aren't full of themselves, and it's not even forced or false modesty.

    That's really refreshing.

That's what I noticed, too. It was all about Manu's amazing pass and almost a side note that, "Oh yeah, I made a lucky shot." That wasn't luck, that was pure skill.

I remember one interview had Manu saying that he didn't realize that was Duncan he was passing to, he just saw someone open behind the 3-pt line and passed it out.

I don't think Duncan really wrote this, but it's a good entry nonetheless.

yeah still a good entry. I can tell that his entries seem a little dry.

And it's pretty cool to know the play was an improvised option again. Reminds me of the Horry 3.

I was waiting for this to be brought up. Everytime I post his diary the question of whether it's him comes up.

I do wish whoever it is would do some proof reading before it's released.

I think it may be TD. It takes so long to get an update that I think it's him

I don't think he pay someone to write a entry per year

I'd like to believe it's him. Some entries sound more like him than others. There's no way to be sure. It's presented as being him, so I hope he's at least a part of it, even if someone else does the writing.

About it being drawn up? Add Pop, he said it was too.

Manu was supposed to take the three as the first option , or go for the layup.

TD was probably the third or fourth option that Pop wasn't looking forward to relying on, but Manu saw the opportunity and Timmy delivered.

I do beleve previous entries have been written by him and then fixed up and posted.

I don't believe (by the writing style, diction, etc) that Tim had much or any input on this entry at all. He obviously approved it because it's on his official site. But I don't believe he wrote any of it.

I agree. Some sound more like him than others, this one doesn't. That's why in my first post I said it's been updated rather than he updated it.

And somehow, whoever is fixing them up misses things in almost every one.

he would be lying. you don't suddenly forget who that particular teammate was that set you up that pick on a particular spot.

manu was also quoted saying, "after all the things tim has done for this team, how can i not trust him? how can i not give him the ball?"

wait all this talk about this entry not sounding like Tim's writing?

...do you think Manu stole Tim Duncan's password??

i wouldn't put it past him giving this team's penchant of playing jokes on each other. though i'd point my finger more readily at brent.

    Very true.
Contrast that with Shaq who also has 4 rings.
