Faux are much more cost efficient. The ones out now can look very good. I put the faux wood in my last house and was very pleased with them. They were also easy to clean.

The faux wood ones are very nice and reasonably priced. I had real wood ones in my last house and my bird just picked em to bits. But the faux ones he's not interested in.
