Zo was better
I tried to observe Chris with an open mind, because admittedly I've always disliked the guy. Also, I didn't catch the whole hour he gave pre-Philly/Detroit game.
Suffice to say I thought he did a better job than last time, but still he's timid and says stupid stuff. Like, "No disrespect to Flip, but this is Joe Dumars' team", and when asked what the Pistons were doing in the lockerroom during halftime: "They're mad and probably not talking". To which he backpeddled later and said he "knew Pistons would be talking about coming back strong in the 2nd half" (all comments paraphrased). He asked Chris Paul a really dumb question about playing his first playoff game away, to which Paul responded "I've been in the league three years...".
Anyways, I think he's a ball of a person and he's doing a crappy job on the desk with my boys EJ, Kenny & Chuck. Anybody else think so?
Wait, he's in? He's a regular analyst now on TNT?
Buwwwhhahahahahaha...
Oh my bad.
Will someone change the heading to read ANALYST instead of commentator please?
Zo was better
He does say some stupid stuff sometimes. I didn't think his question to Chris Paul was that bad. What was so bad about it was C-Webb asked the question, paused, then right when Paul was about to answer, C-Webb started rattling off what amounted to multiple choice answers without giving Paul room to respond to the question. C-Webb is still pretty well spoken compared to a lot of guys. In some ways, he's better than a guy like Magic Johnson because Chris comes off as a better speaking analyst. But, C-Webb has to learn how to be better at reacting to the other guys there. I think he's one of the better guests they've had over the years.
Sure, he could improve. But, he's been ok. If you remember when Charles first started, he wasn't as good as he is now. And, Kenny Smith says stupid all the time. But, the chemistry among Kenny, Charles, and EJ is really good and very entertaining. C-Webb doesn't really have that with the other three.
No, sorry. I wrote commentator by mistake.
You're right, it will take Chris awhile to gel with the other guys. And Magic, so true, and his speaking style is so slow-paced compared to the rest of the environment.
It wasn't so much about him saying stupid stuff, only that I haven't heard him contribute anything of substance yet. Trying not to let my propensity to dislike him cloud my judgment. Plus, it's tough to gel with those guys, they're so tight. I remember when Reggie first started he had a time of it, but eventually found his niche contridicting Charles-- and that took courage.
Albeit true, I think we'll find that Chris' self-centeredness will rise above any analylitical abilities he may have, but that remains to be seen. Waiting for the other shoe to drop. Guess I'm still mad at him for inserting himself into the lineup in 2004 the way he did.
I'll try to reserve judgment until the second round.![]()
Did anyone hear What Webber had to say about the Mavs not going to Kidd's aid after the flagrant foul? He said that he wouldn't want to play for the Mavs and give his all because no one on that team has any heart other than Kidd and Stackhouse. It was kind of a harsh statement to make and he basically called the mavs Pussies.
C-Webb has something against the Mavs. It's apparent that he's biased against them. Not sure how the Mavs player could have really done anything when Kidd was the one who delivered the flagrant, not received it. Dirk has pretty much shown that he's got one of the few guys on the team that has no quit and has a lot of heart. If anyone on that Mavs team has it, it's Dirk. Stack can be tough in a thug mentality sort of way. And, Kidd has poise. But, as far as heart and toughness, Dirk has shown a lot this year and in this series, despite his team being down 3-1.
he seemed nervous ...before he got job and was just a "guest" i think we will get better
webb was nervous, its cool
Webber doesn't seem to have what it takes to be a commentator. He's hesitant and says dumb, obvious .
It's not as if Kenny and Charles are all deep and profound in their commentary. They all say some pretty dumb and obvious . It's all about the chemistry on the set with everyone. C-Webb doesn't quite have it with the others.
He's a noob, give him some time.
Watch last night's 'Neat-o stat of the night,' EJ ftw!
At one point I heard him say "we'll be back after this quick time-out!" then Charles informed him there were no more commercial breaks scheduled in the show.
*What? He's gonna slur his way through a show?
Zo was better. Grant Hill was pretty good too. He did commentary last year after Detroit swept the Magic.
Kind of like Mark Jackson.
