Seems like that depressed them more then helped regaining confidence and will to win.
By wearing his Spurs Ring. lol
DALLAS - Head coach Avery Johnson of the Dallas Mavericks wears his NBA Championship ring with the San Antonio Spurs to remind the Mavericks that they have no championships,
this during play with the New Orleans Hornets in Game Four of the Western Conference Quarterfinals during the 2008 NBA Playoffs at the American Airlines Center on April 27, 2008 in Dallas, Texas.
Can you imagine Cuban?

I know.
They are going home early, right?
Oh , they are going fish
They have plenty of lakes in Dallas.
At least they won't have to travel far.
That would be depressing if anything...
Shame Dallas couldn't force a game 6. I was hoping they'd win and give Spurs some time to rest
Sometimes I don't like Avery, but then there are other times that I like him. This would be the latter.![]()
Actually, Avery wasn't the only Dallas coach that wore their Spurs Championship Ring.
Avery never appears to take any responsibility for his own coaching mistakes or any of his shortcomings. All the while, he constantly throws his team under the bus during every press conference. It's obvious that they've tuned him out. Seems to me that his tactic was nothing more than a desparate attempt to regain lost credibility with his team.
That is a pretty good looking ring.
Money can't buy championship...
Look at Phoenix...
Look at the Knicks...
Hmm, Phoenix and Knicks, rhyme pretty well.![]()
Priceless!
The only thing I enjoy almost as much as a Spurs victory is a Mavs meltdown!![]()
Lord knows what he was thinking. To wear a ring of a despised team in their eyes is the ultimate in disrespect. Sometimes you wonder where avery comes up with this stuff. He's on the fast track of being dismissed.
hmmm, I just don't know about that.
"I'm wearing this for you, Pop and Peter, won't you PLEASE give me a job next year??"
I've always thought that about the '99 ring, too. It might be the simplest of the four, but that's what makes it such a nice ring. It's a ring a person could actually get away with wearing. IMO it looks the best on someone's hand...the others are all awesome when blown up and looked at up close, but with the '99 ring you can spot it from 50 feet away and know it's a Spurs championship ring, which is pretty cool.
Really inspired them last night. Inspired them to get a new coach...
the series is still going 7 games....
i wish the same too![]()
dude would Pat Riley wear one of his Laker rings to inspire the Heat? Would Phil jackson wear one of his Bulls rings to inspire the lakers? what the avery. desperation is a stinky cologne my friend.
