Halftime Chili Recipe
This is the perfect chili dish to serve at your next halftime get together. Serve with grated cheese and tortilla chips for dipping. For a more healthy chili, get a leaner ground beef and use lowfat cheeses for toppings.
Ingredients
• 3 Tablespoons olive oil
• 1 1/2 cups chopped onion
• 8 large garlic cloves, chopped
• 2 pounds ground chuck
• 1 envelope taco seasoning or 1/4 cup taco seasoning
• 1 teaspoon dried basil
• 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
• 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
• 1 15oz can tomato sauce
• 3 cups chicken broth or vegetable broth
• 1 6oz can tomato paste
• 2 15 to 16oz cans of kidney beans (drained)
Directions
Heat oil in heavy saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onions and garlic. Saute about 8 minutes or until onions are translucent. Add chuck and cook until brown, breaking up meat with a spatula as it cooks. Add taco seasoning, basil, oregano, and thyme. Stir 2 minutes. Mix in tomato sauce, chicken broth and tomato paste. Simmer until thickened to desired consistency, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, about 1 and a half hours. Mix in beans. Simmer for 5 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Refrigerate until cold then reheat over low when ready to serve.
In less than 24 hours it's going to read Spurs 0 - 0 Hornets, so it really doesn't matter.

John's Cactus Salsa
Ingredients:
two pounds of cactus prepared and diced
a couple cans of diced tomatoes
three or four pickled jalapeno peppers (or to taste)
three cloves or more (to taste) of garlic
one-half medium onion
a can each of red kidney, black bean, and pinto beans
pinch of basil
a bunch of cilantro
quarter cup of olive oil
couple dashes of salt and some ground black pepper will add flavor
A handful of sunflower seeds, s ed pumpkin seeds, or pine nuts, or any mix of them
For a real crowd pleaser at a picnic or party make this cactus salsa ahead of time and allow to blend its flavors in the refrigerator for a few hours or more. Just mix all the ingredients above that you can obtain. Some hot peppers are always in favor here in the SouthWest, but other folks may need it tamed down on the hot peppers some. One can use this as a dip for tortilla chips, or a relish and garnish on burritos (see breakfast burritos to the right), meat dishes or a general y condiment.

On the other end, Chuck Hayes finished his free throws and started taking, and hitting, 3s. In between, Carl Landry, sporting the wide gap of missing teeth, began television interviews, with McGrady screaming, "Smile, smile," and Alston adding, "I ate too much candy."
The Rockets knew the situation. With another loss to the Utah Jazz, their season would be over. Only eight NBA teams have come back from the 3-1 deficit the Rockets face. But they have spent a season not just denying doubts, but relishing them.
They have come to think of themselves as a team that has been best when the situation was at its worst. So they treated their plight as no different from the many others they had overcome.
"You look at our shootaround right now," Shane Battier said. "We have guys pretty loose, still playing the same games we have all year long. Practice was compe ive, and guys were going after it.

CROW CASSEROLE
1/2 dozen crow breasts
1 qt. sauerkraut
1/2 dozen strips bacon
1/3 c. chopped onion
In skillet brown the crow breasts, then place them on a 1 1/2" layer of sauerkraut in bottom of a casserole. Cover each piece of meat with a strip of bacon and sprinkle the onion over them. Cover the breast with another layer of sauerkraut and pour sauerkraut juice over it. Bake two hours in oven heated to 350 degrees.
