Yeah...i think it would work out great
He played for Pop and he knows his system
Yeah...i think it would work out great
he would be a threat to this team's chemistry...
I like averey as an asssistant coach. Pop could teach him how to win in the postseason and we could keep the team running strong when Pop retires.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. On the other hand, he could be good for the team.
sorry guys... Pop called AJ... i may start a thread about this... an interview with him on espn.. check it out...

on the 11 minute mark he says so...
Having AJ as an assistant wouldn't bother me. I'd love to see him back in SA. Although I think he's gonna look for an actual head coaching job.
Avery is too much of a distraction. Too loud and controlling for the vets we have in SA.
Avery would be great for a really young team, or a good college coach. There are some damn fine college coaches and I think Avery's style would be well suited for that type of environment.
No
Avery will get a head coaching job somewhere else, pretty soon. If he wants to comeback to Spurs, however, sure!
I don't see why Avery, who was the coach of a winning team (as in winning record, not les) to take an assistant job. I don't think the playoff failures are completely his fault.
Mr. Duncan I do not think would like it. Also you think TP wants to listen to that man speak every game. I like AJ, and feel really bad for him, but he was just on the enemy's side.
He will wait for a HC job and get one quickly.
Nice interview. AJ shows class, and blames noone for his fireing. Hope his son is ok.
no.
I wish Avery all the best in finding a new job, just PLEASE not here...
This Spurs system/team is VERY different from the late 90's Spurs teams...the only thing they have in common is a commitment to defense...but it's no longer "push your guy baseline and let Dave and Timmy handle them"...
Avery needs to go to a young rebuilding team so he can build the team he wants...not come into this veteran locker room flashing his ring from '99 and trying to fix something thats not broke.
Yeah probably coaching the Phoenix Suns as soon as DanFony gets fired.
It looks like he will be coaching the New York Knicks. It is being reported that they have offered the job to him.
Ironic, that he will coach this team, he being the one that hammered the last nail in the Knicks coffin, their last good team, with his championship clenching jumper.
I wonder if he'll tackle Malik in the showers for old time's sake?
I want AJ to stay the away from this team. They don't need him or the friction he brings. I'll never forgive that little jackass for the "Jesus hates the way you squander your God-given talent" remarks to DRob.
He needs to apologize first.. That is all. and don't give me the 1999 BS
