If the Spurs win tonight, it's a huge momentum swing. 1-1 with 2 games in San Antonio are not good prospects for the Hornets.

And I look for Duncan to have a simply monster game tonight.

TV said 83% of the teams that win game1 win the series.

    What's the %age for teams that win game1 & 2?

When Spurs win tonight, Game1 will be forgotten. Hornets go to SA having LOST HCA.
see http://whowins.com for all kinds of good stats on 7-game series.

All-time in the NBA, teams that win games 1 and 2 at home win the series 94.4% of the time. That's basically 19 out of 20 times. However they lose game 3 61.7% of the time.

If the Spurs lose game 2, they would have to win 4 out of 5. That's a very, very tough assignment.

Basically what the Spurs need to do to reassert control is to win Game 2 and then win Game 3 at home on Thursday.

If we lose tonight game 3 will be a lock for the Spurs to win. Hornets will probably come in ready but Spurs knowing their season is on the line will win the game for sure and then game 4 will be a tough close one, Spurs will have to pull out. Tonight is pretty big though.

The San Antonio Spurs during the Tim Duncan era never won a series in which they DID NOT have homecourt advantage except for 2005 WCF in which they won the first 2 games.
    1998 1st round
    2007 WCSF

    All three against Phoenix.

A better way to state it would be, "The San Antonio Spurs during the Tim Duncan era have never won a series without home court advantage.*"

*--Phoenix counts as second home court

What about last year's series against Phoenix Suns?

Suns had homecourt advantage, but who was in the West Final?

Maybe you thought Phoenix was also Spurs' homecourt?

If Hornets win game 2 will it be over for the Spurs? I can see the hornets steal a homecourt win in San Antonio.
It will break my heart. But I am sure Spurs will fight back.

Lest we forget. We were down 3-1 against Dallas in 2006 WCSF. We fought back and forced Game 7. Ah, if it were not for Manu most famous foul against Dirk...

We must win Game 2. Holding the serve at home against the Hornets is not a certainty.

I think SA will lose one game at home for sure, so that means they must win game 2 and probably game 5, making game 6 for the series.

Down 0-2 would be the best thing that will happen here in Spurstalk. Bandwagoners will show their ugly mugs and Believers will unite!

There will be no true believers...just people whistling past the graveyard....there is no chsnce in that SA can win 4 of 5 from New Orleans....that team is too young, too talented and too well coached to blow a 2-0 lead.

Honestly I'm not saying this because I'm a Hornets fan, but I think there's a very good chance we will win Game 2 tonight. But if that happens, I don't think that this series is over at all, mind you. The problem for us is when we go to San Antonio.

I think game 2 is a must for us. You guys gave us our worst beating ever at home this year. And you won at Dallas. And if we do happen to lose tonight so be it. But if we get blown out the building again...

Uh...you must have a short memory...the Suns had HCA in the 2007 WCSF and the Spurs won that series on their way to their 4th NBA Championship.

While we're on that subject...even if Manu didn't foul Dirk on that shot, the Mavs would have been down only 1 with more than 20 seconds left in the game. If the Spurs missed a FT, the Mavs could still have tied or won that game in regulation.

The .4 bull , on the other hand...

We lose tonight and we're ed.
If they lose tonight Spurs are in a hole but they are far from ed. They are the defending champs and a great home team, heading home for 2 games. They can even the series up.

If the Hornets win games 2, 3, and 4 they win the series. Game 2 is huge, no doubt, but I'm not going to go so far as to call it a must-win game.

The Spurs are in the same position the Mavs were in. Spurs had a winnable game 1 (in the first half) that turned into a Hornets blowout in the 2nd half.

Hornets will have all the confidence in the world in game 2 and the Spurs will lose game 2.

The Spurs will come home and the crowd will propel them to a win in game 3.

Then comes the pivotal game of the entire series, Game 4. If the Spurs can win it then we have probably got a 7 game series. If the Spurs can't, the series is over in 5.

Chris Paul is a nightmare matchup and if you leave your man to help double him then Chandler or West will kill you. And there will be at least 1 or 2 games when that s.o.b. Pargo will come in for Paul and shoot lights out.

I think everyone (including myself) sort of "under-rated' the Hornets a little this year because they were so young and inexperienced. We were all wrong.

The fact of the matter is that Paul just does not make a lot of stupid plays and does not turn the ball over much. I think he is averaging less than 2 turnovers in his 6 playoff games. That is amazing for anyone.
    were not the mavs.
